So accomplished my acquisition goals for 2025. ASM was on my primary list, while ASM 40 and 45 were “stretch goals.”
Since I only wanted ASM 45 to pair with 44, as it’s a 2 part story, I was ok paying half price for a restored copy. It’s only c-1 slight touch up…which to me is better than a copy which is missing chunks of the cover or stained. But my plan is to crack it out and see if I can tell where it is…I can’t tell just looking through the slab. I figure it’s be a good example to learn from and I’ll share my findings when I get around to that (maybe this weekend). It looks in great shape though. Happy with it.
Btw, check out the juxtapositions between ASM 40 and 51. Pretty cool!

I once saw a raw copy of 51 on eBay where once upon a time someone used a blue pall point pen to draw a toupee on Kingpin’s head. I wish I bought it, in retrospect because it was really well done. Looked like cartoon style Dennis the Menace hair.

Not perfect, but I cannot find a 9.8 candidate. I’ve held over a dozen that claimed to be perfect at various cons, etc but none were better than 9.4. Got a deal on this 9.2-ish so jumped at it and added it to the collection. 42 of 189 left to go, not sure I’m going to get there!
