One could also argue the consumers that keep buying them are also clowns…
Well only at SDCC lol
Word is going around that CGC just issued layoffs in the double digits of people, including the head of the CGC forums.
This was posted in the forum (and elsewhere), so thought id share.
It tells a good story.
We can all speculate reasons why, but this is data that no company can survive without ramifications
Those recent numbers of census additions include all the insane numbers of creator signings that CGC has done the last few years. They ramped that up hardcore to beef up submissions, and don’t forget them trying to scam people to send in their FCDB for grading to get a free FCBD label. Reeks of desperation.
Laying off the moderator at CGC forums, the only guy who seems to get any real information out - what a great move by BlackRock. CGC users can just keep relying on official press releases, Instagram posts, and silence for their questions and concerns.
That is insane CGC Mike was a great guy and helped me with a lot of CGC snafus in the past that their staff did to my books. Guess that goes out the window.
It’s probably from one of the cheapo chains and not from the good mom n pop restaurant down the street.
Watched this. Interesting thoughts about the turnaround times and PSA, “Offers,” on stuff.
I think it’s laughable that someone would buy a comic on eBay and send it directly to a grading company…without looking it over themselves.
Unless it’s a new book (say a few months old) there is a very high chance that book is not the grade you think it looks like on eBay. 99% of comic sellers don’t know how to grade accurately, and/or don’t provide enough high quality pictures for a buyer to determine the grade.
Anyone using that model to quickly flip hot books will find themselves in the hole rather quickly.
Otherwise I tend to agree with swagglehaus on other points he was making.
Apparently the banana gate thread has disappeared from the CGC forum…guess they had enough of letting the truth getting out there…
That company is a piece of work. A real piece of work
