CGC vs CBCS vs PGX

Everything you said right here just proves that slab companies are just about buying slabs with labels in them… Buy the book, not the slab!

I do not carry more than $20 in cash at any time…except maybe when I go to a comic convention.

I am a cash only guy (both inward and outward) with as many comic related aspects as I possibly can.
For the obvious reasons.

As well, contractors for my home or really anything is cash only - again, for the obvious reasons

I learned in the past to just carry cash for the convention each day. Pull the money prior to arriving… all too often they have wifi issues and most can’t event process payments at times, cash rules at conventions. I also pull cash to set my daily limit by such means…

It’s like going to the casino; playing double double bonus poker with 40 separate $1000 hands to get the 4 Aces or Royal Flush in those 40 attempts.

I don’t think this was a 9.9 prescreen…otherwise all the 9.8s and 9.6s would have been returned raw, it entered into the census. That’s how a prescreen works. They are “rejects and not graded.

It was more likely someone sending in a bundle just to be graded.

I know one of these 9.4 Star Wars added is mine.

9.9 prescreen does not exist why does this keep getting mentioned?

That too, lol.

Correct, they don’t have the 9.9 prescreen option yet when submitting. I think people are just doing the 9.8 prescreen, and of course sending in 20+ copies of the same book in hopes that a few strike a 9.9.

All you people wasting your money at CGC… send me your comics, I’ll only charge you half of what CGC charges and I’ll lie and tell you all your comics are 10.0’s if you want…

Actually, scrap sending me the books, I have no space. Just snap a pic of the front of the book along with your submission via text message… I don’t need any other pictures and I’ll grade it remotely, send you the case and label free of charge right where you can encapsulate your own comic with a perfect grade!

Seriously though, we all know how to fix the CGC problems right? It’s a very simple solution…

Poyo I don’t think anyone here in this forum is actually sending books to CGC to grade for their own personal collection. At least they shouldn’t anyways, it should be for resale because people out there are still paying stupid money for them. The goal is to monitor the market and track to see which books are selling and how this new flood of 9.9s is going to affect the other grades.

There’s people in the community right now doing the lord’s work tracking every new cgc 9.9s and 10.0s hitting the census. There’s evidence now that cgc 9.8s prices are going to tank as the census is blowing up. If I was holding a cgc 9.8 Wolverine 1 I would be worried and would try to sell this as quickly as possible, same with the other books mentioned like Star Wars 1 9.8, X-Force 2 9.8 etc.

The info is important as this is probably the biggest comic industry related news story of 2024 and should be talked about to get the info out there. Plus I think it’s funny as shit and so amused by it  Those that got a lot of money invested in cgc 9.8s may not find it so amusing so may want to shut down the conversation…

You’d be surprised but since this forum is public, I make my statements to all those just lurking anonymously.

I’m just trying to point out the sheer ludicrously of CGC and their sham of a business. It’s all just nonsense what they’re doing over there to make money and people are still supporting them by being stupid! That’s the real issue… start educating the ones who have no idea… and let’s send a message to all those behind the con and sham of this business who still make CGC the most desirable slabs on the market.

Something else on this subject and a rote phrase I’m so tired of hearing “There are only xxx of these on the census at this grade”!

And…? Now, if it is some obscure golden age/other rarity, I can understand that statement, but it’s usually not the case. It’s someone at some con selling a stupid book that has no business being graded in the first place and trying to use the fact it is the only 9.8. 9.9, whatever on the census. as a reason for their ludicrous price tag and hype.

Who knows what percentage of any books out there is graded versus ungraded, but for every graded copy of likely any book…you can pretty much be certain there are a plethora more of it in the same grade or better out there sitting in bins or mylars etc.

This comes down when I’m preaching to people… buy the book, not the slab. When they try to claim it’s X of Y on the consensus, they’re just selling you a label in the slab… not a comic book!

I grade only to sell; never to retain.
If folks didn’t buy the junk; I’d go back to selling raws.

As always, if hobbyists find flaming piles of dog sht valuable then I will deliver flaming piles of dog sht. (and trust me when I say graded books aren’t that far away from flaming piles, personally).
If they want bridges in the Gobi and Sahara, if I can get my hands on bridges and make a profit, I’ll sell them too.

Until these knumbskulls “get it”; I’m going to keep “selling it”
