Crypto

Encouraging words from Caesar in the forum! Huzzah!

I feel you and I can see you have the best intentions but you’re swinging at ghosts with this one. No one wants wasteful crypto. Mining is being phased out

Huh. Ok.

Well, looks like it’s happening and Valiant are the first willing to fail:

Bleeding cool is trash. I love the fact that they cater to comic book fans but call comics worthless junk. Jude Terror is the worst.

I know. What the hell was he thinking? I could have found the Valiant press release standing alone, I suppose, but it was super late and I was lazy.

You know, I actually think this is a good idea. I mean think of being able to collect and resell your digital assets. It would be interesting to see how this is implemented (I’m guessing ERC-721???). Either way, I like the idea but I’m not a big fan of Valiant, so…
Wish Marvel would do this.

Not on you man, their reporting is trash. He even throws in political commentary at the end which instantly turned me off.

Yeah, I’m not sure what the dollar amount of stimulus direct payments has to do with crypto collectibles. Actually, I am sure. Nothing. It has nothing to do with it.

Nice find. Not impressed with their partnerships though! They should be working with the leading NFT minting ecosystem (Enjin)

When they announced the $600 checks people were posting pictures of Walmart with point of sale bins of TVs for $599 (hey! you still have a dollar to grab a Snickers in the checkout line). Maybe he has books to pump and dump that rely on people getting a bigger check… and he can’t pump them as high if the checks are smaller…

And now we have a decentralized mechanism for cashing in tokens for physical items with dynamic pricing driven by demand. Hello future!

I’m very interested in partnering with other comic enthusiasts to try to make a play for this space. If any of you fine gents would like to pursue such a thing - DM me.

That’s interesting I read what the did with the shirt.

Man, I have tried to read and understand much of this and I just can’t wrap my head around it whatsoever.
I’m a big fan of trying to look ahead, invest, do things that will benefit myself and my family in the future. Whether it’s just raising my retirement a little bit each year as a percentage point, buying a share of stable stock (well, imo stable anyways), etc, key comics/toys.

So…I’ll leave it to you experts…is it wise to put a few dollars in something like this bitcoin or dogecoin (really don’t know what the heck that one is) every couple weeks on payday? I’m talking like $25.00 or something. This stuff seems to be the talk of the town lately and I have a couple apps I could use already to buy some?

Or is just silly and I should buy a nice $25 comic?

I would stay away from chasing hype. I bought and sold doge the evening WSB tweeted about it for a quick scalp but wouldn’t hold it long term. If you don’t understand the decentralized tokenomics then just play it safe and buy a little bitcoin and/or Ethereum every week. Don’t go all in bc it can drop like a rock when the FUDsters come out

It’s a whole new world

I go with the invest what you can lose approach. The volatility is extreme. Bitcoin has ranged about 32k to 48k this week (past 9 days, actually). And much of that move is from an Elon Musk tweet or two. It’s an amazing story, but not for the faint of heart. For example, I think this purely “animal spirits” and has nothing to do with money supply, inflation, etc. Meaning, I think this is not correlated to anything but the news cycle. Said differently, I think this is more Reddit (or similar media) than Central Bank driven. But I do think having this investment option is positive for those who don’t mind the risk.

Thank you! Greatly appreciate the insight! I’ve tried to read up on articles, but it really is just something I can’t wrap my head around.
I’ll toss a few incidental dollars into a small “fun fund” with it here and there. Stick to my “old man ways” otherwise in terms of investing lol.

If you want to just throw some gambling money at crypto, you can now buy some with your paypal account. Makes it super easy…
