I was at Third eye the other night and got perspective on why Dan Mora covers are so popular. If you have never been to third eye it is staffed by all women. I mentioned Dan Mora covers and two of the girls started swooning saying Dan Nora draws men the way women like them. They were almost giddy about them.
I wish Marvel/DC had covers that men liked…

That has to be one of the worst covers in the history of comics if you ask me…

IIRC It’s not as bad as everyone thinks because it was based on an actual photo of Arnold Schwarzeneggar. The issue is that Arnold was flexing with both arms toward the viewer so his torso is also turned toward the viewer. Of course that only explains the wonky perspective because Liefeld opted not to draw in any of that ‘context’ so we see Cap just standing in profile and he totally ignored the actual length and shape of Arnold’s arm. So if you spend more than a second looking at it, nothing adds up. All that said, it is still maybe my vote for worst cover.
It was never a cover. It was used as promotional art, and according to Liefeld who I believe has fax from back in 95, 96 that Marvel perhaps even Stan Lee was requesting Cap to be bigger. There’s a podcast episode about it.

I guess the one problem that stands out is, usually artists actually get better over time with their artwork but honestly, Liefeld isn’t getting better over the past few decades… it’s the same ol same ol…
Rob found his niche and he excels at it. That’s the positive thing I’ll say about him. There isn’t much else I can say about him that would be considered positive.
