Diamond Comics Filing Chapter 11

Assets include patents like Comic Shop Locator Service

Oh no. How will I find a comic shop now?

I’m wondering now how did they get a “patent” for that?

Having worked with patent lawyers in the past you can file a patent for pretty much anything. Check out this documentary. It’s pretty frightening…

Oh I know… I guess my sarcasm didn’t come off as making fun of the patent office. And yes, it’s a joke of what they call an “invention”… I mean, Microsoft supposedly owns the “right click” patent for the mouse to launch apps…

You can have it.

I liked that people clicked on it…I should have linked it to a porn site…

You still can. Just link it to one of those disturbing mid 80’s German sites… Not that I would know anything about those.

Oh great we are gonna get linked to Der Shizen Haus or some such thing.

And thanks. Needed the extra clicks on the main site. lol.

How’s that patten working out for ya buddy?

patten - a shoe or clog with a raised sole or set on an iron ring, worn to raise one’s feet above wet or muddy ground when walking outdoors

Crazy how one little letter can make a difference. That’s why I always double check my spelling lol.

Punctuation can make the biggest difference too. I always loved the one I used when I taught high school.

Let’s eat, grandma

Let’s eat grandma

Two very different meanings.

Article Summary

  • Diamond Comic Distributors seeks payments from comic stores amid bankruptcy proceedings.
  • $22 million in debts owed to Diamond, with $11 million overdue and $6 million seen as irrecoverable.
  • Retailers report surprise demands for payments on invoices they can’t verify.
  • Long-time flexibility ends as Diamond seeks to recover debts from struggling comic stores.

Frankie’s was on the hook for how many millions?

how dare they try to recover money owed

Should have tried that strategy maybe more than 90
Days ago?

So that’s a good point to be made here….i don’t know how diamond operates but obviously they were delivering product without requiring payment upfront. So how much of Diamonds debt is from bankrupt LCS’s.

Is this a precursor or warning or barometer of the strength of the new comic book day industry today? Or are they really that bad of a business?

A point somewhat eluded to by swagglehaus in this video.

I had the Diamond Bad Customer list a while ago. It was nasty including all the shops that went out of business that owed them money as well as retailers that were “assholes”. I need to revisit that list but by now it is a couple of years old.
