eBay Headaches

Either the seller is just a jerk,

Or they realized the value went up, and now they want more…so they raised the price…but willing to sell it to you for the original price.

But ask them. See what they say. Only way to really know.

Yeah. Dick move on the sellers part. Everyone should help out and go low ball the guy

Sounds like a waste of time, this is where you just decline and move on, why would you want to deal with someone who wants to play games?

Curiosity. When has curiosity ever went wrong?

Do you really think someone like that is going to give you honesty? That’s why I’m saying it’s just wasting your time. I mean, do what you want, I don’t waste my time on that type of curiosity because it’s probably nothing but dishonest responses anyways and that’s if they even respond.

I was being sarcastic…

Sarcasm is actually actually quite hard to convey via text. That’s why it’s really hard to tell when someone is being sarcastic online. I’ve read articles about it

Oh it’s not that hard to tell when someone is being sarcastic in text…in fact, being sarcastic right now…

This is a reason why I’ll add a winky or other smiley face at the end of when I’m being sarcastic or joking.

There really needs to be a sarcasm font something whimsical

Not sure if you all know about this, but you can get registered with the USPS to label and ship stuff using their proprietary letter envelope barcoding. You have to register, download their encoder kit, and you have to print the code onto the envelope (whether directly printed or printed onto a sticker). Another issue is that there are VERY specific placement locations for the barcode so their letter mailer can read it. It includes tracking information for everything until it’s actually delivered. I used to use it when I was into cards. You also have to have a business as iirc you have to register your EIN with them or something (so long ago).

Intelligent

HUGE pain in the ass to set up, but afterwards you can mail cards or anything under 1-2 oz in an envelope for the price of a forever stamp-ish.

Forgot to mention, includes tracking number too using “intelligent tracking”. SHould serve as enough for feebay if there a dispute as it will show that it was processed at the buyers home postal office and “out for delivery”

eBay’s standard envelope option takes care of a lot of this already with no registration needed. Same price and everything. Granted, it’s only an option for cards up to $20 in value.

I even print right on the envelope, so no additional labels or tape needed. And, no need to worry about placement.

I just sold some books to this guy. Wondering how it turned out for you before I ship.

Are you referring to “li-383921”?

I thought our exchange was kinda “off” as he wanted me to ship to an address that was not on his eBay profile. Profile says he’s from China but wanted to ship it to his friend’s US address (female) and she’ll bring it over to China for him. It weirded me out that he took his profile picture down after another member talked about him here. I ended up blocking him.

The next day got another buyer also from China, this time much more friendly towards me. Registered that day with 0 feedback. Address is to a female in the USA. I googled the address and it was to a dormitory. He paid the full price $45+$7 ship. Didn’t know if he was trying to scam me or he wanted that book real badly. I ended up shipping it and on the day that it got delivered, I got this

So worked out ok but not sure if it’s the same person lol.

I would do global ship it I was you and if he wanted you to send overseas.

Thanks for replying. I bet on the fact it was probably the same person and assumed everything went well but thanks for clarifying. It feels legit. Went back and forth with him several times and got the sense he’s legit, but you never know in thisss types of situations.

It’s funny, when I saw his message, my immediate thought was “I think this guy was talked about on CHU”. Sure enough, I was right.

Some background info before I post the convo and pictures of the damaged item:

This Batman/Bane two back with signed Kelley Jones art card was listed at $105.00 plus shipping. This Steveo428cj guy offers me $80. I counter back at $90 which is where the last one sold. He came back with $85 and I figured I’m not going to lose sleep over $5.

I shipped the item in its original McFarlane Toys shipper box with packaging paper all around the item it insure it won’t get jostled around inside the box during transit.

I received the following pictures and subsequently the convo that you see:

So this guy got $25 off of list price, or just shy of 25% off and now, when offered an additional 20% refund for minor damage he wants to try to “negotiate” to 25% as if he is doing me a favor?

Done.

Have him return it and do the insurance claim for full sale price.

I’ve never done that before. Anything in particular I need to know about the process?
