A place to share horror stories and worries about shipping comics.
Wanted to start a thread. Normally I have really good mailmen who come to my house and pick up my packages. But occasionally there is one woman who doesn’t bother to grab the packages from my mail box. It happened last night on one of the eBay card postage envelopes.
Flag was up when I got home at 7:30, had just past the postal worker going up my street. Checked my mail and she had shoved the new mail on top of my envelope. I grab it and run after her.
Get to her truck and tell her she didn’t take my outgoing mail.
She says it is dark and she didn’t see it.
I said that’s why the flag was up.
She snatches it out of my hand and throws it in a bin in the truck.
She says it’s not going to go out tonight, I don’t see what the big deal is.
I said as long as it gets scanned I don’t care.
She mumbled something under her breath about working so late and I leave.
Checked eBay today. No scanning.
Called the office. They said yeah she didn’t scan it and she was supposed to.
They say I have to wait for it to hit the next destination.
I said but what if it didn’t go out. What if it’s jammed in a bin in her truck. No way of knowing since she didn’t bother to scan it and I will be out the money for the card I sold and the postage.I can’t file an insurance claim without it being scanned.
He said I would just have to wait.
Not sure I will ever see a scan on this envelope.
Sorry.
It’s situations like this I bring every and all mail to be scanned and witness it personally.
Too many times I had to eat a sale because they lost it before it ever was scanned (taken from my mail box)….
Still waiting for this one to re-appear…2 hrs from its destination.
What is “origin processing”…?
This does not sound good…
Delivering mail can be hard work and no one likes working late, but that’s the job. “I didn’t see it”… sure, Jan.
I know it’s not an option for everyone, but I drive my stuff to a post office and use the self-service machine when there’s a line. It works pretty fast if you only have a small number of labels to scan.
This is a package from JTC, the Wonder Woman-Captain Marvel cover. It has been held up here for some reason.

I had six packages go out on Saturday. Since it was so many I took it over to the post office, huge line of people with packages. I couldn’t wait for the 45 or so minutes to drop off and get the receipt. I dropped off on the counter and left. Of course I get a message from a buyer today asking me when I planned on shipping the package. Checked tracking, no scans. No scan from the initial pick up. No scans in 5 days. On 6 packages worth several hundred dollars.
Yeah, I did that once with huge line and it took several more days for some reason. My USPS also have drop boxes that go down into chutes, which I prefer more than leaving on counter as I don’t trust those who wander and have access that aren’t employees. Those USPS counter workers aren’t watching closely and likely don’t care as they’re super busy being overworked and probably underpaid already.
They just hit the regional distribution center. I called USPS in reference to the packages, they hate me because I have the local number and not the 1-800 number. Anyway, they all started to update about 5 or so minutes after I called.
The issue is they say that I shipped them today… When I shipped them on Saturday.
Yeah I get it “mistakes happen because we are experiencing a higher level of packages for the holidays”
No, do your job, scan the damn packages
Sounds like someone came and grabbed them into one of those big roller bins they throw packages in and it got rolled off to the side and forgotten about for a few days…
Always watch them scan. Always.
If the line is too long, come back later.
Of course I say that because I have the convenience of my post office being literally a 3 minute drive down the road from my house…
I love my distribution center that also has customer facing clerks, there’s hardly ever any lines. I guess it also helps it’d kind of in a warehouse and business district area, so not a lot of residential buildings or homes so I think most don’t realize it has full USPS services there…
My post office is a like up the road but on saturdays they close at noon. I went over at 10. I couldn’t wait there for 45 minutes to an hour for them to get to me. It’s a busy post office.
The big problem I see is the 45 minutes at a post office.
It’s unbelievable how unprepared I see most folks walk into a P.O (or any service related place). that result in holding everyone else up. And they just don’t have any awareness and they don’t care.
The questions I hear - mama mia.
Today I was in Stop & Shop for a few things and literally 15 minutes waiting for the lady in front of me with a 24 pack of bottled water that she thought was $5.36 but was actually $5.53. I just took a deep breath and purposely waited and did not leave the line as I could not extract myself from a moving train wreck and wanted to see it to the end.
Holy crap.
290$ comic, I sent it Priority Mail but uninsured (that’s on me) so now only covered for 100 + the shipping. feelsbadman
That is truly incredible amount of scans, where was this going? It spent a consider amount scans trying to be delivered in Texas before ending up in Florida?
I did that recently. When I sold some high priced Invincible comics I forgot to add insurance to one and clenched the whole time. I add delivery signature to anything above $300
Signature is always a must for me for things over $200 and it’s the absolute best to win every time if it’s not delivered, cause they have to get a signature.
