Modern Comics Heating Up (Those With Potential Too) (Part 1)

Some maintain value better then others. There’s a lot of different versions of preview appearances too. Sketches, ashcans, in book previews etc…

The venom Sketch, Invincible previews, Last Ronin Ashcan, etc…. Even the Wynd preview in Siktc goes for a premium.

But typically it all depends if there are new characters. If it’s mostly the same characters from Siktc, won’t do much at all long term.

also print run maters alot, if the preview is in multiple books like walking dead or even strange academy than no one cares really, but with basiliks 1 2nd print its the only book to have it and print run is probably pretty small of 2-3k

BOOM! is gonna take advantage now and put it in more books in hopes of selling more copies of them. It’s the BOOM! way and I’m sure they’ll do additional printings of the preview, maybe even in single preview format as an ashcan variant…

If the goal was just to sell more copies…wouldn’t they have announced the preview being in Basilisk?

You wouldn’t do a surprise one if that was the case.

Doing it this way builds organic hype and has people talking. Anticipating the new series.

The FCBD issue comes out in couple weeks and will likely be the same material.

Wynd preview was only in that one issue of Siktc.

They likely didn’t think it was going to sell due to the previews in the back. I’m saying now they’ll pull a BOOM! tactic and take advantage…

Their hottest and highest selling series in Siktc…and highly anticipated spin off in House of Slaughter….they didn’t think would sell books? Lol.

There’s something to be said about building organic hype. They took a different approach this time instead of their usual overhype, and it worked.

It was by design. They weren’t caught off guard that a Siktc preview would become very popular.

Props to them for taking a different approach this time.

You’re not following my original logic…

I never said they put the previews in Basilisk #1 2nd print to sell copies, I’m saying now they could pull a BOOM! tactic and put the previews in other titles or issues of theirs to boost sales…

Here, I’ll quote myself:

With added info on what was implied:

Over/under for how many store variants house of slaughter 1 will get? If of course boom allows store exclusives for it

Already set my eyes on the NHOTL homage so no store variants for me

Very likely. Will keep an eye on Dark Blood #1 2nd ptg. I’ll be more impressed if they will put new preview content from fcbd. Hmmm

I understand your logic…I just don’t agree with it.

There won’t be much demand for later books with the preview. Especially with a higher print run. The one in demand is the first one.

So if their goal was to sell books…you announce prior to FOC the first one, and sell a crap ton of books.

Even Dark Blood 1 2nd is past FOC, so even if it’s in there, it’s past FOC so won’t sell any more copies.

And the FCBD (probably the same material) is only a few weeks away so there isn’t much time to solicit a new book and promote it pre-FOC to sell more copies before the FCBD comes out.

I didn’t say it would work, I just said I wouldn’t be surprised if they threw the previews in more books going forward. But whatever… :man_shrugging:

Or you could give them credit for doing it different this time instead of being the hype machine they usually are. But that wouldn’t be like you to give credit and not complain ;-).

I never said they hyped up previews in books though. I don’t think I’ve ever seen them hype up previews inside of other titles before. Not sure why you’re even bringing up things I never said or implied at this point…

Lol. No one said you did.

It’s all good man. Cheers.

WTF kind of comment is that? Everything you’ve stated here is implying crap I never even stated or said though. GTFOH with that nonsense…

Poyo it was a joke. Hence the winking smiley face at the end. It’s all good man.

Back on topic!

23, but people won’t have money to buy exclusives by October.
