The shops around me all have the newest Spawn #323 priced really high and already on the wall/behind the counter? $19.99?
They are readily available on line at many sources for pretty cheap still. Was there a error? Misprint? Something I’m not aware of?
Cool cover and I like it, ordered it, we’ve discussed it but…I see no reason for anyone to pay more than cover on it.

Are you talking about the A cover or the C? The C Barends is a fantastic cover, and my shops sold out immediately. My subjective take is that it’s maybe the best cover of the year, and I really dig the many subtle differences between Spawn 323 and King Spawn 3.
The A cover seems to be pretty available on shelves.

Shops trying to capitalize on fomo

This ENTIRE hobby is based almost solely on FOMO. There is no hobby or collectible I’ve ever seen that creates more of it. Every single person or shop selling a comic book, or anything in the world actually, for more than what it retailed for is capitalizing on FOMO, or everything would always be retail price and no one would care about any of it. If shops want to stay open in 2021, they certainly should try to capitalize on it as well.

Mondo prints create worse FOMO than weekly comics.
Free country. They can ask $1000 if they want. If they get a sucker to pay $20 more power (and profit) to them.
My guess is the price drops $5 by next week…and then down to $9.95 the next week as eBay floods.

My three copies from Midtown arrived today. I think they’re more a long term hold for $2.99 ea. Spawn comics are funny like that. Look at how issues 280-310 have gone up despite all the hype around those issues when they came out.
I was referring to the “C” cover for the record.
I completely agree that it is a great cover and I personally love it. I just didn’t think it was one that would have caught anyone by surprise and didn’t see a rationale for the high price.
Also not arguing that the shop can’t do as they please…was just genuinely curious in regards to what others were seeing.
I picked up every cover by Barends. Well, every non-store exclusive. I like the digital art on it.
