Modern Comics Heating Up (Those With Potential Too) (Part 1)

You may have made a good choice. I want one but it really depends. I can see people maybe getting $200 or even $250 for it but I can also see it start falling if we don’t hear much about the character for a while.

Six months from now this very well could be a $60 book…it could just as easily be a $300 if it stays on enough people’s radar. Tough to say on this one. Low print, high dollar brand new ratios are so hard to predict most of the time unless there is first appearance that takes off.

It doesn’t help that the A cover shares the same art. IF he ever shows up in the new DCU a cover like this could become a classic. We’ll see. I’m in the camp of waiting and seeing on this one.

I thought it would after watching the Flash trailer (and it is)…
Good time to sell Batman/Superman #8 if you have extra. Appears to be moving.

Is this because of The Flash trailer ?

I just pulled out three newsstand copies of Superman Batman #8 to list on eBay.

Why is Superman Batman 8 relevant? I have no clue, someone explain please!

Flash trailer had Kara Zor-El in it

Ah.

Its her reintroduction. I find copies of action comics 252 all the time why arent people going after that book!

Damn I bought one 4hrs before the trailer drop, hopefully it doesn’t get cancelled or goes missing :stuck_out_tongue:

@davidbitterbaum
I can’t speak for others, but the second I saw the way she looked/was dressed In the trailer it immediately made he think of her image on the cover of #8. (aside from any plot/story elements).

Because it’s a Michael Turner classic! Everyone should have this in their collection with all of the other Turner Superman/Batman covers. Movie spec definitely helps but this should be a $15-20 comic without it.

The sketch variant is amazing too! Really shows Turner’s skill as an artist that doesn’t require color to really stand out. IMO

Turner was amazing, the covers he did for this series were top notch.

I would keep an eye on Captain America 217. First appearance of Marvel boy who eventually becomes Quasar. The timeline fits for the character to appear in the newest Ant Man movie or the upcoming The Marvels. This is a character that will have staying power and is important in the cosmic universe that Marvel is establishing in the upcoming stages. The comic is trending toward becoming pricey at the high end but not there yet.

I have been picking up cheap copies of Cap 217 for the past several years, but you should also probably pick up Hulk 234 to go with it. All he really does in Hulk 234 is say “call me Quasar”, but you know how the comic market can be…

You are right. I forgot to mention 234 where he becomes Quasar. I do have a couple of them. I will say that the print runs on the Incredible Hulks during the latter part of the Bronze Age were more plentiful than Captain American due to popularity.

thanks for pointing out cap 217. i may have been aware of it at some point but it was not on my radar.
just bought a new listing off ebay – cbcs 8.5 for $80 shipped :+1:

Same. I haven’t bought a copy of each for a couple of years now. I would buy cheap copies of either, in any grade, when I came across it. Both are good books to get. I haven’t looked at prices for them in a while so seeing them now I’m not sure if there are still “cheap” copies out there but ya never know.

Its funny because I just snagged a decent copy less to do with Quasar and more because its a Cap key and I’m a big Cap fan. I had a chance at a decently priced higher grade slab but I just couldn’t justify owning a slab that I’m not in love with.
