Read the last 300 posts. Other than a Black Cat Annual, X-Factor 10 and ASM 9, there is no mention of Modern Comics Heating Up.
The back and forth concerning speculation information is dumb. Utilize the information provided in all formats and decide for yourself if something is worth buying. Do not buy if you do not think it’s a good spec. Doesn’t really matter where the information comes from as long as you use your own brain to make the final decision.
I’ve bought many bad specs (Enormous, anyone) and many good specs (EoSV, Darth Vader 3). At the end of the day, we hope the good outweighs the bad.
That being said, Stray Dogs is on FIRE! The only issue I have been able to buy is #1 3rd print (which everyone else has as well.
It happens, and it’s allowed from time to time. The discussion was still in the spirit of “modern comics heating up”, just not specific books but how and why they heat up. Discussions evolve but topics like this one, everyone will shift back…
I understand the arguments being made and why. However, I will say that the discussion did not evolve and was more of a revolving door of saying the same thing with different words by multiple posters.
Now you have me doing the same thing. Well played agentpoyo, well played
I apologize for also de-railing this thread some more
It did though… someone posted a modern comic store variant and people started talking about it that led to all the shenanigans… just like a traffic jam, all it takes is one car or person to derail the entire flow on the highway…
Issue 2 is a $40 book now. Grabbed a copy last week but I want to read the series before deciding what to do with it…guess I need to track down later printings if 3 and 4.
If something took a year to arrive in the mail after it’s street date is it still first cover? There’s a few comicxsposure exclusives that fall into this conundrum.
Not sure, but my beef with the guy was everyone else was getting their copies (they were popping up on eBay) and he would not ship mine for whatever reason. Had to get nycollectorcave (apparently knows him personally) to give him a nudge…
Can’t speak for the situation you are referring to.
I like some of the older books they did….but haven’t bought a book for them since though.
Eh, it was a good spec until it wasn’t, thats what happens when creators promise things (movie deal) that never materialize, and then just abandon the book. I made a ton of Enormous back in the day but still have a full run of the books including some once pricey variants.
Stray Dogs was not only a very cool comic book, but I also feel like it’s creators did an amazing job of generating interest, promoting the product, being visible, and incorporating it’s fans into the product.
Having fans send in pictures of their own dogs, which were then published in the comics was an awesome touch. Lots of signings, talk about the book, etc.
I’ve seen more buzz in the varied comic collecting groups and such than any other book I can think of recently. Not just “spec” or make a buck talk, but genuine interest and love of the series.
Yeah that dog photo thing was genius. Tapped a whole another market with that. I’m a dog owner. Wife looooove dogs, doesnt read comics but she heard about the book via facebook dog groups. I’m mad I hesitated on the book when I had a feeling it was going to be a good read. Dogs and a serial killer? Win-win for me.
I had to put my beloved Chi down just a few weeks ago (his pic is somewhere in our forum thread). I loved that little guy so much. My kids are grown and gone so the wife and I really cared about him. He filled an empty void. Little fellow had some rare, late in life genetic neuro disease called “Lafora Disease” (even humans can sadly get it). Essentially, a progressive form of epilepsy.
Anyway, putting him down was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. This salty old Marine bawled like a baby. Had the Vet come to our home to do it with him in our arms.
Anyway, I read Stray Dogs shortly after not really knowing about the series/what it entailed, and it just hit me even more on an emotional level I guess.
Sorry, I’m off topic…but I’m starting to feel like you folks are a bit of my family.
Curious as to why all of sudden the multiple sales of Rust 1 (Limited) 9.8 all from MCS where buyer could have bought them cheaper if they went directly to MCS.
