I like the old, “Chick Tracts.” They are so over the top you would almost think they’re satire but they’re completely serious.
I found a chick tract at the gas station recently. They still produce them.
In other words, it is supply relative to demand.
If there is less supply than there is demand, price goes up.
If there is more supply than there is demand, price goes down.
This happens until there is a clearing price, at which supply is equal to demand. This equilibrium is maintained until either demand or supply is triggered e.g. movie news affecting demand or discovery of a hinder to unknown stash that affects supply. An trigger will affect movement in price until equilibrium is once again established and a new clearing price set.
Basic economics. Yup, sometimes it pays when you actually listen to what the teacher is saying.
Why, thank you. How kind. But at the end of the day, it’s basic economic principle that supply and demand are equally relevant in determining price points. Your argument that demand supersedes supply won’t fly in even an entry level economics class.
Correct. But also phrased as demand relative to supply.
Which is where this discussion started, ironically, a year ago, after people saw the 200K supply and declared Abs Bat 1 would be ‘dollar bin fodder’. That was a case of people overweighting the importance of supply.
It can be a one of a kind but if nobody wants it, then yeah, it is pretty much worthless.
This whole argument is like the Hulk 180 vs 181 first appearance. Kinda getting old and regardless of the arguments and counter arguments it impacts nothing.
And I didn’t argue that. I’m saying supply doesn’t play a role until there’s actual demand… ![]()
It is, because I don’t think they’re understanding what I"m effing explaining or stating… It’s just stupid and I’m done! Some people just want to argue any and everything.
Bottom line, send in those Supe 75s if they got a shot at 9.8!
I have around 15 newsies I should send in.
I was thinking that about you, Mr. ‘I’ll throw you a bone”.

My only point is that economically, supply and demand considerations have to be equal.
And as for whether the discussion impacts anything, consider the fact it started because someone didn’t consider demand equally, and said Abs Bat 1 would be dollar bin fodder based on supply considerations only.
Any modern comics heating up that we should discuss?
Well, those Absolute Batman Annuals are still showing as sold out at MCS. Been keeping an eye on that one since the posts earlier in the week.
Maybe we already talked about this…
I’d recommend picking up “Death of the Silver Surfer” #1 A cover if you find one. I mean, it’s not going crazy or anything, but sort of simmering imo. ![]()
For me, they’re impossible to find in my hunts…I did preorder one at release, but I don’t feel like it was heavily ordered & there were multiple other covers that seemed favored over the A.
My shop has a couple AB Annuals, but I didn’t grab any. Same with some of the muppet covers. They had one Venom, but the cover is $8. If it’s selling for only $25, maybe I skip that one.
The Death of the Silver Surfer covers are quite lovely too.
This one’s simmering, haven’t officially heated up yet.
Bonus book. If the character takes off, this might be a sneaky pick up. This is Barbara Ketch’s first appearance as ghost Rider. This is dollar bin fodder. I found one today for $2, not going to pay more than that.
I don’t agree to that! You’re wrong!
I like the eBay listing, “HTF for some reason,” cracked me up.
Totally not true. It was that the demand would not meet supply…that demand would falter within a year…and people would move on.
Given it was not an original character/first appearance. And at the time everything was all about new characters.
The supply would make it easier for it t fond its way into dollar bins, once demand was gone.
