Especially with stores ordering mostly cvr A for stuff
Iām positive my shops will not get the B cover. Or at most theyāll order 1 shelf copy and it will be spoken for by Tuesday eveningā¦.never to see the shelf.
And for that reason I bought a few copies online.
I think this one caught a lot of people off guard. Thatās a good recipe for a hot book. I believe it will do well.
Open order from this week that made the weekly movers CovrPrice list:
I think the Turtles of Grayskull 1 has some long term potential
I picked up the golden age sized detective 27
cover A sold out on midtown at some point today
I think that will be the winner. Iām sure it was heavily ordered, but nearly as much as the regular sized printing. Plus the high price point.
Could be like some of the Marvel Facsimiles that have increased in value, such as AF15. Itās a nice book to slab and put on the wallā¦.even though itās a fax.
I ordered the foil, but will be keeping an eye out for the oversized.
I sure missed out on this one
Itās hard to know that a Keenspot book would pop like this. The only thing we can do is stay on top of sales.
Meanwhile percolatingā¦
I think I spend more time on that than anything. Pretty safe way to get in early
I thought Keenspot was a āprint to orderā type publisher. Many books that āpoppedā can still be ordered through their website.
That being said, this one is actually sold out. So now Iām confused.
But thatās why I donāt highlight their books on my FOC. If you can just print more itās not really an FOCā¦
Oh one more thing about Mark Spearās Monsters. He did an interview where he talked about Keenspot approaching him to do a 2nd printing of issue 1 using the same art (especially the hot Bridezilla cover). He refused the second printing saying he wants to keep the 1st printing covers collectible for collectors.
So the 2nd printings on foc should have some new cover art. This might be good info for the future should Spears do another project, he has collectibility in mind.
I wish marvel would take this approach, so thereās a healthy secondary market. But, they couldnāt care less
This book is much bigger than what you posted here. One copy just sold for $100 BIN and another is already bidding up to $102. There are only something like 2k copies of this cover. A break out cover for a breakout artist.
Spears is not a breakout artist. He has been around for many years.
And only the publisher and creator know the print runs
Looks like it took another bump. When I posted what I saw a couple days ago the high sales were around $50. What a beast of a book.
Maybe our definition of breakout artist is different. I know heās been around for a while but his work hasnāt been praised like this before.
Watched an interview with him and Todd Mc. And really enjoyed his story of how he got in the business and to this point in his career. Seems like a really cool dude.
Also, the print runs for each cover are printed within the comic itself. They are openly advertising how many copies of each book they printed. Like another poster said, he wanted to create something with some long lasting collectibility. Maybe heās lying.
Just wanted to point it out. The whole thing is kind of fascinating to me.
