Modern Comics Heating Up (Those With Potential Too) (Part 2)

I’ll trade his laughter, smile, and a photo of him enjoying the comic for missing a $60 in a heart beat.

@BatmanFan I let my 17 month-old play with and rip up my spare, “Previews,” magazines. He loves the colorful characters and they aren’t, “Real,” comics so I don’t worry about value. I mean, most of the time they don’t have value.

I do that with my DC Connect and Previews as well. I was initially hoping to read it him but he reached for the pictures and it was donezo

Do you guys think this It’s Jeff has any legs? I’m considering doing something crazy. I think I’m going to pull my listing. I listed 2 copies and it got a ton of views really quickly and it sold right away with no offer made.

The views and watchers is giving me Absolute Batman and Ultimate Spiderman vibes. I sold these too quickly as prices continued to appreciate, same with Monsters. I’m getting the feeling the same thing will happen to all Jeff the Landshark books. Feels like the demand for Jeff the Landshark far surpasses the supply. If you guys got a copy of West Coast Avengers 7, my advice is to hang on to it while longer. It could be a grail, low supply real high demand.

Yes, that’s what makes him different from all the other sharks (I kid, I kid)

I let my daughter read Edge of Spider-Verse #2 with first Spider-Gwen. It was in her room for several months and got pretty dinged up. When it started to really take off in value, I still sold it for $50 I think. The purchaser was hoping to press most of it out from what they shared via ebay messaging.

I’m real high on the Peach Jeff + Galacta cover

Between Thundercats Apex sales and One Year In sales this has been the best week of the year for me. Was up over 200 listings at the beginning and am back down below 200 listings

Hmmm…Jeff has always been popular & certainly has a following. This is tough though as I don’t really see why “It’s Jeff” should ever be this big of a book when it comes to him (when it all dies down). Wouldn’t be the first time I’m wrong though. Some of those sales just seem really off & crazy. Not saying manipulation, people will spend their money on anything.

In comparison, take that Deadpool #1 Elsa and Jeff cover…or the Deadpool #10 issue with Jeff on it. Those are not easy books to find and their values aren’t touching what we’re seeing the FOMO of these It’s Jeff books. Even Jeff’s first appearance should sell for far more than this pretty common book.

Fun and interesting hobby. Never can figure it out.
The current listings on eBay are crazy as they are all over the place with the different prints/covers.

I think the West Coast Avengers will always be popular as it’s his 1st, but if folks are willing to buy it for $140-$160 for a NM copy, I would sell it. Everything is cyclical so sell while interest is super high and buy it again in 6 months for $40-$50.

Even the bigger keys move up and down. I’ve been thinking of buying Edge of Spider Verse #2 and UF #4 as the prices way down from where they were 6 months-1 year ago.

First solo series?

So I’m packing It’s Jeff for my customer. Normally when someone pays over $50 for a book I double bag the book and put it inside a mylar with a thick 56pt board. Looks real nice. Give the customer something special for spending silly money on a comic book.

I just can’t help but laugh that I’m putting this silly It’s Jeff book inside a mylar and that it would be going for this much. Woke up this morning thinking it was dollar bin fodder lol.

Jeff is no Spider-Gwen or Miles. But he’s being introduced into another generation through these games and who knows what else is in the horizon for Jeff that will connect with today’s youth. It’s a good thing.

Hard to predict at the moment. As for other covers the influencers haven’t pumped those yet…probably not aware they exist.

Hey, that’s the best kind of sale.

I have a crazy good week off those Apex Thundercats books and One Year In, that’s all I have sold this week and has been the best week of the year.

Still waiting for my finders fee for those, lol.

My Apex arrived with a nice long spine crease. It arrived with my Eye Lie Popeye variant, also with a long spine crease in a different location. Oh well.

These arrived unharmed though!

Made 7 sales yesterday. Someone bought some of my monsters stuff and I sold more absolute series books. I sold the reg apex cover for $40 and the foil for $60. Still have two more sets.

It’s odd to see more of the 1:10 and 1:15 variants on eBay than the regular. Unless my search isn’t catching them, the only open order spears is paired up with an incentive.

I have another copy in shipment…thinking of dumping my creased copy while it’s hot.

Well, my LCS has sunk to a new low. Went in today to get my pull list and see if I could find an extra spoiler variant Ultimate Universe Year One. They had stacks of cover A for sale on the rack at cover. Oh look, there are 5 copies of the variant bagged and boarded for $14.99 each. Wow. Never seen them do that before with a new release. It is already hard enough to find books there on release day if you didn’t preorder them, but they are now taking it to the next level. Luckily I preordered one online with other stuff from my go to online shop. I hate to have to preorder stuff online but when the local shop can’t be trusted, my business has to go where I can get things for cover (or FOC discount).

It doesn’t seem to be getting any higher…probably will be stuck with them. Of course they sell one copy at $15 they pretty much paid for the other 4.
