New $600 IRS Tax Laws for 2022

Of course we should claim it by law. But, a lot of people don’t.

And when they get audited, they can’t claim ignorance. I knew a guy who got audited, never give them a reason to audit you. He went from full head of brown hair to almost silver in 6 months, it literally drained his life out of him.

So, just pay your damn taxes! Gripe all you want about it but still pay them. If you don’t like paying taxes, run for congress or move to a country with less taxes or hell, get rich, buy an island and start your own country…

I send details of what I buy and sell to my tax guy, and he does the rest.

Don’t let Poyo fool you. He loves poutine and saying “eh”

Yup. My ex boss had to sell his home in order to pay off his taxes and now he lives in an apartment. I think his home was worth 1.5mil so goes to show you that one day sooner or later, the IRS will get you.

I’m in Missouri. Middle of (continental) America. Very flat.

eh… Poutine was okay…

Can you get tornado insurance out there?

I believe we have a variety of coverage for stuff. My wife knows all the bills and such, I am not good enough with finances to be in charge of any of that, trust me. It is impressive I do my comic spreadsheet, please don’t ask me to keep track of electrical or plumbing fees.

I haven’t seen it called tornado insurance, it’s typically “wind damage” which can include hail. It’s an expensive portion of home insurance in the midwest, but a must. Replacement cost coverage is king and should not be skimped on.

I thought there were areas where the companies wouldn’t insure, simply cause the risk was too high to make it economically feasible.

I have heard that anecdotally as well, albeit about flood and hurricane-prone areas. One agent I talked with this spring mentioned a friend of hers whose insurer completely pulled out of Florida. Then there are companies that just raise their premiums so high in certain areas that customers get the message and drop them (or don’t choose them to begin with).

That’s a terrible situation for people to be in. You probably can’t get a home loan without insurance though

No, I can’t imagine any bank that would issue a home loan without insurance. Recipe for disaster.
