Odds and Ends

I said “please”…

I mean, I plan to quit using them as slabs seem to really have fallen out of favor, especially with CGC involved.

They had a promotion for $100 membership ($150 credit) on Black Friday 2023.

Not sure if they did one in 2024.

But I’m not giving them a dime until they stop damaging books as well. Too much evidence they continue to do this and haven’t addressed the problem.

Slabs don’t sell anyway….

I’ve given GCG $0.00 in my entire lifetime thus far… and I don’t see that ever changing for me.

Generally, is the writer of a comic responsible for the marketing solicitation that precedes it? (I mean the one that shows up in FOC description)

I think for Marvel and DC, they likely have an entire marketing team that would handle those solicitations. Image likely does their own marketing as well for the solicitations. But yeah… not entirely sure myself.

I could see others give this blind bag thing a whirl if they can sell half a million books with it.

Wouldnt be surprised if Skybound does a 2nd or 3rd print blind bag…

Don’t give them any ideas

For me, the reason I actually went fairly “all in” on these specific blind bags was the fact that I just don’t have all that much by way of past Skybound type comics, Invincible related type stuff. So, it was a way to sort on add comics to my collection ( and ultimately my sales box) along with a shot of getting something unique as well. The buy in was so cheap that it felt like it was worth it.
If the cost was even a $1 more I may not have.
If it was Marvel or DC I would pass as I just don’t think I’d get anything I likely don’t have.
That was my thought process anyway.

Same. The only issue of Invisible that I bought back then was issue 110. Gave 2 to my sister (which her ex husband through away) and I sold my 2 for a nice small proffit.

Given the percentages shared for the surprise insert issues I doubt there will be much unique in these packs at 400k sold. Assuming of course the lions share of that 400k is blind bags.

Yeah, this title is not one that should garner 400k.

Maybe 100k if it was pumped without blind bags? So that means 300k blind bags, I’m estimating.

I wonder if they had a limited number of non-battle beast “surprises” and this is just going to water down the odds of getting something good…

This is why I called it a fun pick, but a drek pick nonetheless.

When the books come out, we’ll need to create a ripping thread for this book.

It is a lot like a lottery ticket in terms of getting a good cover, I guess?

I think I’m the only one that was immensely disappointed in this whole Battle Beast #1.I saw the ad in Transformers and got excited because Battle BeastS were back, only to realize that’s not the white lion character I thought it was. Feels VERY misleading.

The more I observe behavior and buying habits of people at conventions, the more I tend to be believe that much of what I think in terms of comic collecting & sales only holds true to the sandbox we tend to play in. That sandbox tends to have a tunnel tied more directly to the online world of comics.
It’s why I can go buy a book like Robins #2 in a bin still but nobody is aware.
It’s why I didn’t see a single Mark Spears book on a wall or here anyone ask for one.
It’s why I see folks over pay absurd amounts on comics for comics they could buy with a few clicks online.
It’s why I see an older collector pull out a notebook with list after list of needs , search through books & again overpay for stuff.
I’m not talking big keys, certainly not CGC, but seeing a Spawn fan pay $10-$25 for any issues 2-80 ish just blows my mind and I saw it constantly.

Yeah, I ramble…
My point is…I did hear people non stop ask for Invincible comics over the span of a few shows (young, old, male, female collectors). Also Sonic, GI Joe, & Transformers, and anything horror as I had a list and tallied everytime someone specifically asked. Those were the winners of the tally. Edit: Poison Ivy comics was the #5 winner of the tally request war.

I’ll be sure to have plenty of any of these properties going forward & it’s clear to me that many folks don’t care what it is…they just buy it & love throwing money away.

Paying under $3 for these blind bags. I’ll pretty much guarantee I can sell whatever it ends up being at least $5 cash in person. I promise I’ll report out and be honest about it.
