I would say not.

9/11/2001 was 24 years ago. There are people who learn about it in history books, as they weren’t even born yet. Makes me feel old and reflective. Feels so long ago yet quite present in my mind. I was in 8th grade.

I felt old thinking about 9/11 24 years ago and then you just had to say you were in the 8th grade which made me feel even older…

I was 23, just lost my job during dot com burst a week prior by getting laid off from Raytheon and my sisters first marriage was scheduled for that Saturday the 15th, which most of her side of family couldn’t make it cause all flights were canceled. I drove out the day after towards Colorado, there was literally no one on the roads it seemed, just homes with flags… it was very surreal.

I actually woke up on Tuesday 9/11/2001 and logged into to check job postings and the first news site I hit showed the attacks, I thought it was a hoax at first and they got hacked, so I went to make breakfast and coffee, came back and realized holy crap, this is real… glued to TV rest of day watching coverage.

24 years ago I had taken off work because I had an overnight Tuna fishing trip scheduled. I was getting gear together at home and got a phone call from a friend telling me to turn on the TV and watch the news. It was just in time to see the second tower get hit. Needless to say I didn’t feel comfortable going out 80 miles overnight in the Atlantic and planned on skipping the trip, but the captain cancelled the trip.

I was AD Air Force doing my EMT Refresher course. An hour later, I had my go bag with me and 150+ personnel sat in the auditorium of Wilford Hall for 4 hours waiting to get on a plane if they needed us.

Unfortunately, no medics were needed.

I was in high school, as a teacher. I taught English right out of college. I think it was like my fourth year and I had the “pre-class library study hall” duty. We had TVs in there and it was happening as we were all in there.

I was in a field meeting with a surveyor and a contractor for work, I can remember the exact location I was. I heard about the news as it happened on the Howard Stern Show which was broadcasting from New York, of course, but we used to get it here on Q107 out of Toronto. The thing I remember most was them arguing among themselves about whether it was an accident, a plane that lost its way, etc. Then the second one happened and no one thought it was an accident.

I was in High School at the time and could see it all from the suburbs in New Jersey. A lot of people people in my community and the all the surrounding ones were affected either by knowing some one that was there or someone that was responding. It really is crazy to think about and still to this day.

If you ever have the chance to go to the 9/11 memorial adjacent to One World Trade Center, highly recommended.

It is not for the faint of heart. It will bring back so much from that day if you have memoirs…you will likely feel things.

Went into the city maybe a month after. It was surreal. The countless signs and photos posted of missing loved ones “have you seen me?” That were on the fences of the Trinity Church Courtyard that seemed endless.

There was a Gap store near ground zero that had reopened, but had enclosed part of the store near the entrance in glass, which still had all the dust and debris that had filled it when the towers fell. I went back a few years later and the store was gone, but always told people about it…

Then to my surprise it’s now part of the 9/11
Memorial…they had removed it and preserved it exactly how the Gap had. I was thrilled to see someone recognized the significance of that display to memorialized it.

The Memorial and museum is definitely something to see. A wide range of emotions.

Back when I was actually purchasing everything Alex Ross prior to 9/11, I went all the way down from Westchester county to the Warner Brothers store that was in one of the towers; specifically to purchase the Alex Ross Worlds Finest Giclee. Sadly I sold it and wish I still had it. The Ross Giclee’s, at the time, were only sold in Warner Brothers stores and were sold out everywhere except that one Warner Bros store in the Tower. It’s quite expensive now; so getting it back is a challenge

To this day, I find this the most stunning piece from Ross and it will always hold a special place in my heart.

It throws me for a loop that I now have multiple colleagues who either weren’t alive or weren’t old enough to be aware of that day in real-time.

I finally dug out my Garbage Pail Kids collection that I still had in my storage unit. Got it cleaned up, organized, and sleeved. Fun to look at these cards for the first time in what… 35 years!!!

I’m thinning out the things that I don’t need, so these are going to eBay.

Are these complete sets? Or are you selling incomplete lots?

I’m in the market for a few, depending on what series you have. I think they would be 1st/2nd series though.

I didn’t get into them until the 3rd series…much like most of the planet.

This is a total random lot of 385 cards. All original series, but nothing is complete. Almost no duplicates though, except for the A/B naming system. The numbering goes from upper double digits (like 70s and higher I think) to the 600s. So, maybe some series 2, but probably not a ton.

Nice, looks hilarious…

I have the Garbage Pail Kids listed at $200 on eBay. I got an offer for $150 today. I’ve looked at a few comp listings, but I really have no idea how to gauge value of these. @D-Rog, is $150 + $10 ship a reasonable price?
