100% sure. I’m a news geek. It’s the annual total.
this is about bank reporting, this has nothing to do about the 1099k’s that will now be given out at 600 worth of sales annually
Yes, I see now. This is a different issue than I thought it was. I was thinking of the rule that banks need to report to FINTRAC when they receive $10,000 or more in cash in the course of a single transaction.
Yep, this is totally different.
The thing to do here is to watch for exemptions and who gets them. Similar to Obama care and the Vax mandate, politicians and their friends often live above the requirements that they place on us. Many of our elected representatives make a LOT more than the $175k/yr that is their congressional pay.
Maybe I’m not understanding correctly, but if they’re trying to go after top earners who may be hiding taxable income, why is the limit set so low to $600 and now $10k? Why is the trigger amount not in the millions?
If one simply remembers the mantra of “talk about taxing the rich; but take actions to actually indirectly/covertly screw over the middle class” everything will then make sense.
Wait, why are we talking about this new 10k here then? That’s why I was confused without reading the article linked yet and went by just the 10k thingy… if this is about banks reporting bank accounts that exceed 10k in deposits, that’s not about 3rd parties reporting 1099 incomes… we should start a new topic
Wait, they’re complaining about invasion of privacy with the $600 proposed limit? That’s why they want to raise to 10k. There is no privacy anymore when it comes to income and paying taxes. They can choose to audit you at any time where you have to dig through your life spending down to the damn penny…
This is still a non issue I think. Just pay your taxes on income, all of it. Nuff said!
I’m going to dump all of Anthony’s comic collection in the Boston Harbor as protest.
If this bill worries you, then that just tells the world you were evading taxes and you should be caught… hahaha…
I was pointing out that it doesn’t apply to the PayPal and eBay stuff so people didn’t think it did.
Yeah, I went and read the damn article after I got a few moments to actually read it…
Just wait until you’re taxed on every mile driven because you’re a filthy, carbon spewing parasite!
Sure, we’ll disregard the reports that the SUN is getting hotter and polar ice caps are melting on other planets (where there aren’t coal mines and SUVs) because we all know it’s our fault!
Recent archeological discoveries hint that dinosaurs went extinct because they burned too much coal, and wooly mammoth 🦣 went extinct because they only drove V20 diesels.
Exactly! This right here is why this should be VERY concerning!
Not at all. Like @Bill and @dPcomics is alluding to - if this is being sold as a way to find high-value tax cheats why target everyone?
This is incorrect.
It is common knowledge Wooly Mammoth’s drove Hummers and were occasionally seen in a Yugo.
Good. I want the price of gas to skyrocket. Then maybe, we’ll come up with real mass transit that is earth friendlier and only people with money can afford to drive cars, like me… so no more traffic! Woohoo!
Cause that’s how the high value rich folks are cheating… they’re not targeting those that make less, they’re targeting likely loop holes the rich are doing to evade taxes.
But it’s still moot, you’re suppose to pay taxes on your income whether it’s a dollar or 5 billion dollars… Just report your income accurately via the tax laws and you should have nothing to worry about.
