Terrificon

2nd Alarm. That’s been a honey hole for me…I went there on FCBD and also pretty much got all my IDW Joes from there…the ones I felt I could flip for $15+. I see I missed one.

But yes. They are in the middle of nowhere, but for a small shop have a great selection of books. They don’t have a lot of books priced, but if you grab those it’s $2 or $3 for older books or cover price for newer books. Just ask them when you walk in so you don’t think you’re getting a stack of copper age books for 60 and 75 cents like I did my first time there, lol. They don’t price check at the counter otherwise.

They are chatty. I’m not one to talk much with owners, but they have such interesting conversations you can’t help but join in. They really do seem to enjoy the social aspect and their customers, unlike some shops.

Can’t say enough good things. They’re also connected around the area with you tubers and people that organize conventions like Terrificon. 3 Men in a Basement, Lunch Money Comics are what pop into my head. They kind of just do their own thing and enjoy it.

Exactly, it was $3 for anything not priced, cover for the newer stuff. I paid for the Wizard Wolverine but was happy to do so. Could have spent another hour or two in there but was just supposed to be quick in and out.

They were fun guys, the complaint of the day was the renumbering of the exits along a local highway/interstate? I’m like you, would rather look through books than talk but they did keep me chuckling… and nodding when complaining about the state of Marvel these days. Definitely a great store.

Yeah, I go there thinking 30 minute max…2 hrs later I’m like “crap, I gotta get home…and I have an hour drive…how do I get out of this conversation!”

Part of that is just there so much cool stuff to go through. But part is you get sucked in because they’re easy to talk to.

Does anyone know how to get John Byrne’s autograph these days? I heard that he does signings at Star Trek conventions but I don’t know which Star Trek conventions he might be doing this year? Apparently, his last comic book convention appearance was at the 2018 FanExpo in Toronto.

I know someone just brought up Claremont, but I got Byrne and Claremont at NYCC a few years ago. He did a IDW Star Trek book he was promoting.

I’ve heard he’s one of the most unpleasant comic creators to interact with. Is Byrne that rude to fans or is this a rumor?

He is a grumpy old man.

Should invite him to join our group. He’d fit right in.

I’ve never met him, but it sounds as though he was a grumpy young man, too. I’ve read both pleasant and unpleasant accounts of people meeting him at cons. He’s very touchy.
