Tuesday night spoiler request

Venom #31 || is supposed to have a significant death ||

Yup and as we know it, nobody stays dead in comic books. LOL!

Death is kind of relative in Venom any more. Spoilers are up, but remember Eddie died too.

Nothing of note on Last Ronin are-Evolution??

No big shocker at the end or anything. It is all pretty much new territory in the last ronin series. One turtle gets hit in the head and freezes up, thatā€™s the big first issue cliff hanger.

And maybe Iā€™m not. My LCS sold out before I got there 30 minutes after opening.

Sold out of weapon x-men.

Plenty of uXM1 though.

Spiderverse #1 one per store sits behind the counter collecting dust at $75.

Iā€™m hoping that UXM1 2nd print snuck under the radar for folks.

Lol at $75. Your store is price gouging. My shop had the one per store for $30ā€¦canadian.

Plenty of copies on E-Bay right now of Void Rivals #7 and Lunar has them available to order it seems. I just got two more copies in the box today with next weeks books so I donā€™t expect Iā€™ll need another to test it.

E-Bayā€™s about to run out of Weapon X-Men #1 it seems and somehow the guy in UK is flashing 50 sold at $20+ in shipping and $6.56 base price though I donā€™t understand how.

UX1 I predicted would be a heavily ordered waste of time at least in the short term. Not a single sale the last 3 days here online presales or otherwise. E-Bay listings creeping closer and closer to cover price. Pretty soon they may be under cover and less than the 2nd prints.

Itā€™s looking like Weapon X-Men #1 has the most potential for jumping later in the week right now unless GOLGOTHA MOTOR MOUNTAIN #1 sneaks in and takes the crown.

Bad day for PRH in shipping yesterday. The 3 Spider-Punk trades got dropped in one of those stiff cardboard mailers and dinged corners all the way here. Then to make matters worse, the other PRH warehouse decided to put those 5 Giant Size Spider-Gwens and the 5 Spectacular Spider-Men #1ā€™s in an overstretched undersized fold-over mailer and got all 10 severely corner bent. I just took the credit and didnā€™t even ask for reshipment. Iā€™m not seeing any heat on those 2 yet anyway.

I am loving Golgotha Motor Mountain.

Is it price gouging if no one buys it?

We all have books that we have an ā€œah f-it priceā€ maybe this book is the one for them

Hit a second shop on the way home and they had 5 or 6 void rivals as well as weapon x-men. This is a shop that normally does not order a lot of booksā€¦but this week seemed to go a bit crazy.

The WXMā€™s all had spine damage, so I passed.

They must have ordered them from Diamond. Thatā€™s my biggest concern going back to getting comics from them is having to reactivate damaged corner, a spot I usually use to stack up everything that arrives damaged from Diamond by handling or UPS. If books jump up into the $20-$30 range or higher, even the scratch and dents can pull cover to double cover easily since most people donā€™t take time to fish that part of the pond. Landing that trophy fish is nice but I just want to eat so 4 or 5 smaller oneā€™s can fill the frying pan up nicely too.

They donā€™t get DC books as they only order through one distributor. Does that mean they order from Diamond? Can you get both through PRH?

DC only comes thru Lunar unless youā€™re in the UK where Diamond still plays middleman for I believe.
Marvel, IDW and Dark Horse are from PRH but Diamond can resell them at lower discounts plus shipping.
Image is from Lunar but like with the PRH titles, Diamond is allowed to resell them at lower discounts.
Thereā€™s a whole herd of smaller publishers that are available from 2 of the 3.

Cheat code for Diamond is to just check Previewsworld.com
Final Orders Due - Previews World
That shows you most items but there are still others that are exclusive to PRH and some stuff is exclusive to Lunar so to actually have everything available, you have to order weekly or at least monthly from all 3.

Diamond historically has been the worst at packing and shipping and the most expensive to ship. Damages are a regular occurrence. Just today I got a box of Image trades from Diamond because I thought they would ship USPS as part of the test program and for some reason Lunar refuses to keep the Image trades in stock and available at anywhere near complete selection. Iā€™ve been waiting patiently to be able to order the ones Iā€™m out of that Lunar is also out of thru the lower USPS rates but instead they send the evil little box out UPS and as usually there was a corner ding to one of the ones on the end and Iā€™m sure I will not be happy next Wednesday when I see what the UPS rate charged was.

To check Lunar just go to Home - Lunar Distribution and scroll down to their scrolling FOC list and you can see everything FOCing although there are currently two lists FOCing each week a day apart. Other items they carry like BCW can be directly searched from their search engine. Lunarā€™s great at shipping, the best at packing and protecting and the typical box, any size, any weight usually ships for less than $12 a box. Replacements and reorders usually arrive with the next weeks box where Diamond can take two weeks or more sometimes. General rule with Lunar is any time you have less then 200 comics coming, order 1000 comic bags or some BCW stuff and theyā€™ll upgrade you to the double sized box so the bags essentially ship free. 1000 bags, 40 top loaders, anything thatā€™ll fit in the space a single comic box from them normally takes up.

For Penguin, there really is no great option unless youā€™re on the wholesale site for retailers. The public site still doesnā€™t offer a simple everything thatā€™s on FOC this week list like Lunar so the best I can say there is to just check Marvel, IDW and Dark Horse directly from previewsworld. They have a website if you want to look for specific items but I canā€™t made sense of it for weekly FOC needs. For items like Little Golden Books and other goodies that wouldnā€™t be on previewsworld, it would help to let your local store know youā€™re interested in other stuff so they can let you know whatā€™s coming out or FOCing you may not be aware of. Coming Soon - Homepage - Comics (no mature, family-driven, not randomized) - Penguin Random House Comics Retail (prhcomics.com) Penguin larger shipments are as good as Lunar, double box surrounded by something between them. Small shipments that get the foldover are a crapshoot like this week and the other warehouse for trades is just a disaster waiting to happen. The good news there is they ship everything for free and have never turned down a replacement request, sometimes even shipping the same book for free 3 times before we finally get one with the corners intact. They also are usually the fastest to get anything to you. I get something from them every day most weeks. Donā€™t forget theyā€™re also a huge real book book supplier so anything on the main website, Penguin Random House your local store can order in for you just like they do with comics. You need a cookbook or some Captain Underpants t-shirt, etcā€¦ just have it ordered and it should come fast. Maybe even a book with words for the wife. The ones that donā€™t have any pictures once you get past the cover.

He was in 3 or 4 panels of HRA #3. Seemed like a full to me, but Iā€™m sure people will argue about it.

#4 is supposed to have 1st appearances of a couple new Jedi Masters and Padawans and some new villains. Unsure how consequential they will be but its a buy for me.

Problem is I often donā€™t know who is new in Star Wars and who has been introduced. I havenā€™t followed High Republic since second series #1
