What are you predictions for all things comic related
I predict I will talk big about cutting down the size of my collection, only to see it grow in size.

I think the creation of this Marvel Rivals game is going to have a very, very significant impact on our hobby going forward.
It is going to drive comic book sales regardless of whether the book is an established key or not. The most important factor will be paying attention to plans for new characters being introduced to the game. For any “new/buy low” character there will be money to made.
The game designers clearly have zero issues going with obscure characters so everyone is in play. The same principle will even apply to costumes if certain “skins” are released or become popular.
I do believe New Agents of Atlas & Strange Academy remain outstanding buy in candidates as there remains potential for characters from these to be introduced.
I’ve read that Hit-monkey, The Hood, and Angela are planned (along with many other well established characters) so since these tend to be less expensive, cheaper right now I’ll grab them if the price is right.
I absolutely think Wave, Aero, & Crescent/Io will be introduced given the somewhat anime style of the game and diversity. Even Taegukgi is a decent buy in given the low cost. They are all priority buys for me. Just a matter of time.

Exactly…all of these books this week… especially Jeff are being driven by the game. No reason we should expect the trend to change. So going forward, we need to be a step ahead.
We tend to think everyone pays attention to this stuff like FOC, hot books, trends, etc…but they don’t. We know this from the people scrambling to get the books we’ve all ordered pre FOC that seemed like no trainers.
I’m sure we will all be on top of it.

I’m not familiar with today’s games. Do they continually release “skins” for something like rivals, or new characters. And that’s what we need to stay on top of?

@D-Rog yes… it’s essentially how they fund the game. Free to play but folks pay for the costumes & pretty bells & whistles.
This is a poor example as the comic is already so expensive but it was the first thing that comes to mind. Black suit Spidey as an example. Or maybe as a now cheaper book, Spidey’s Iron suit. Grey Hulk or Joe Fix it Hulk, etc, etc.
So the release of any characters new costume down the line could create a slight buzz. Certainly far less than the impact of the addition of a new character but still.
I’m glad you started this discussion. I was thinking about the coming year and what properties are due for movies or shows in 2025. That would be the best starting point in getting spec ready.

I just hope they keep making comics all the way through 2025. Every year somebody out there proclaims its the year comics die.

At some point we’ll also need a comic goals of 2025 thread. Last year I had a very short list of books to obtain…and was able to get them all.
Next year’s list is larger, but filled will less expensive books. So should be fun. I’ll likely start that up when I off work over the holidays.
If you dont mind sharing, I would like to know what books you got and prices?
My goal next year is to get 1 book. That one being is Tec 880 raw in 9.6-9.8 candidate to hopefully have it signed by Jock.
My prediction for 2025 is The Terminator turns out to be a true story. John Connor comes back to the 80’s in 2029 which is just a few years away. And with AI getting smarter and drones flying all over NJ and MD it’s just a matter of time before Skynet creates itself and decides to wipe us out.

Rivals is indeed fun. My kids and their buddies play and we were crazy excited Jeff was included. We went all out on Jeff stuff at NYCC one year and my son got a 9.8 of the first venomized Jeff (Deadpool #10 KIB) for fun which would be a super cool skin. The book is super tough to find though!
