You can get dual detectors too, which is what I have. If you have gas servicing your home (stove or heat or anything) carbon monoxide detectors are a must.

Their daughter said she thought it was carbon monoxide but I am curious to what it comes back as.
I first want to give Hackman mad props for being in his 69’s when he married a 30 something woman.
His wife had mummified hands and feet though…. Anyone else catch that?
They were both dead for weeks. Bodies were decomposing when the cops found them. Carbon Monoxide poisoning was ruled out.

I wouldn’t say ruled out. Just that no signs of a gas leak, one is the doors was left open so even if there was place had some amount of ventilation. Big house though 8000 sq ft.
They both appeared to have fallen down abruptly. Autopsy resulted in no signs of trama. Down to toxicology. Bottle of spilled pills nearby. Very odd.

Could be one of those things where Hackman died of old age. Wife sees it and decides she can’t go in without him. (But that doesn’t explain the dog.) dogs will go on without us.
Maybe back to murder suicide.

That’s not murder suicide. That’s death by natural causes followed by suicide.
But why leave the one dog in the crate to die? While letting the other go?
Still doesn’t add up.
Maybe she took the pills, realized the dog was in the crate (maybe started barking) and fell/passed out trying to rescue it while the pills took effect.
Doesn’t explain spilling the pills everywhere though.
No. 1 she found him and took her own life
No. 2 Murder suicide

I believe #2. She killed him
They have to have some security footage with that size of a property…maybe can narrow down the last time they or someone entered or left the house…maybe narrow down time of death based on the dogs behavior going in and out.
But why kill a 95 year old man? It’s not like he’s going to divorce her at that age…or do much of anything but sleep. She could have traveled the world and he would not know or care much. What would be the motive here? Mental illness? Need to know what those pills were for, perhaps.
I’m thinking #1 is likely more probable.
#3 They had a visitor and were poisoned by a suspect not yet known. Need to see the security footage.

Dog was found in a closet. Maybe he accidentally killed the dog driving out somewhere and she got mad. Hit him as he was entering the house. 95, didn’t mean to kill him. But died all the same. She ends up taking her own life.
They did say another of their dogs was next to her and still a third roaming the yard.
1 dog dead in a crate in the closet (maybe died of thirst?).
2 dogs alive, of which one of the two was near her when they arrived
The medications taken from the home were an unspecified thyroid medication, the painkiller Tylenol and the blood pressure medication Diltiazem, according to the outlet.
Well, I think we can rule out these meds as a culprit or contributor.
