To those who sale on the bay and Mercari, how have your sales been so far this summer? I had great sales until about 2 weeks ago. The summer slowdown came fast.

I think itā€™s the summer slow downā€¦every year sales slow as kids are out of school and families save up (or are distracted by) vacations.

Here is a chart of 2024 (bars) and 2023 (line graph). As you can see, my sales slumped in the summer, and towards the end of the year (holiday shopping).

With the year coming to an end soon. I was wonder how everyone else did with ebay sales. I started off very slow but overall I have a 71% increase from the previous year but primarily because I sold my invincibles collection.

How did everyone else do?

I just started selling in November but so far Iā€™ve done about $1300 in sales total.

Easily my best year, and that includes the bonkers 2021. But, that was really my first full year selling, so I did not maximize things as I probably should have.

So far, Iā€™ve purchased 1924 books this year (several collections). Sold 1155 books (a lot of those were the stuff I didnā€™t want from the collections I bought). Those 1155 books sold paid for 184% of my entire costs. So, I paid for every book I bought, supplies, etc, plus 84% profit on top.

Thatā€™s the way to do it, make the hobby pay for itself while also pocketing the profits. Iā€™m not doing much buying nowadays but in the hey days, I returned my initial investment buying comics while then allowing the comic book purchases fully supported + profits from flipping books.

I am still selling. And still buying. But I am not only funding my purchases but dumping some of the profits into an investment account for my kids. It has been a really smart idea.

Yeah, all my sales are going into my Acorns account. Fun way to watch my money grow unmanaged and itā€™s currently at 48% growth even with the rocky stock market as of latelyā€¦

I hadnā€™t sold on eBay in many years, but started dabbling again in August and have been surprised at the positive results. Most of that has been from flipping Mora, Batman and beefcake, plus a few slabs from my PC. Havenā€™t tried selling on Mercari.

I think 2026 will be more boring as I get more into the humdrum parts of my PC that I want to downsize.

Also just to add whatā€™s particularly awesome about my sales is, $900 roughly of the sales so far were from purchases of only $40 from NYCC 2018. Great ROI if you ask meā€¦ and paid off to hold longer rather than the quick flips at the time. :slight_smile:

Felix Comic Art has been berry berry good to me this year.

  1. NYCC Absolute #13 signed by Dragotta (+ my time on one long abysmal NYCC line)
  2. Absolute Batman #13 drop on Third Eye
  3. Absolute Batman Annual #1 drop on Third Eye

Total for all 3 is over $1k; with a buy-in of (I think?) around $220.
