2nd 3rd and 4th printings!

I got a bunch of X-men Chromium Classics that really should be worth their ASM Chromium Classic counterparts. New cover for a reprint, gimmicky, major first appearances, same amount of copies as Chromium ASM#300, and Chromium Mcfarlane Spider-Man #1. I’ve been waiting damn near a decade of holding these :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

We all know when you buy a facsimile copy of anything it never feels like you actually own the book that’s how I’ve always felt with later printings.

I am very happy to have sold my Thor first prints in favor of later prints with black winter and infinity hammer on the cover.

Even if he market does another 180 on these I like the reprint covers much more than the first prints on just about all issues…

Yep I’m all later prints except a 1:25 #5 1st print I kept. Made a decent return for having to buy everything 2nd hand to begin with on the 1st prints.

So where does a B, C, D, etc. cover fall then? Just because they come out on the same day as cover A, wouldn’t they also be a reprint, because they aren’t A? I think that other than A, all covers and printings are additional printings, not reprints, and have the same internal content with the same title. Marvel Tales are reprints, as it has a different name.

What is new is the continued pursuit of “first cover appearance”, and how these additional printings are covered. Same story content, but now it might be the first Codex, or Black Winter, which has driven some of these additional printings to skyrocket.

The authors is attempting to project his definitions of what he thinks should be collected. None of what he said in his piece has any real definition among the hobby. TMNT #1, all printings, have been blowing up lately. You would have a hard time telling any comic fan that a TMNT #1 2nd print is only a ‘reader’ copy because it is a later printing. :turtle:

He also has something wrong with his release dates. Before covid, books were released one day out of each week, Wednesday. In his summary of release dates, he has Thanos #14 released on Dec.27, a Tuesday. He then states Thanos #13 2nd was released 4 days later on Dec.31, a Friday. He then has Thanos #15 released on Jan.24, also a Friday. Three release dates, none of which actually correspond with an actual release day (Wednesdays).

So, his release dates don’t really correspond with new comic days. Where is he getting his information? If the author can’t even get his release dates correct, then what else is fundamentally wrong with his analysis?

Nope. Those ratio variants as well any other covers were all printed, put together and sold on the exact same day. Later printings aren’t which is why their designated as such.

As Todd said, they all came out the same day. They are first prints.

Additional printings Vs reprints are the same thing. It’s just semantics.

And being later prints, I’m not saying they are not collectible or anything of the sort. But they are reprints and not true first appearances.

If you are counting 2nd prints as first appearances, when why aren’t the facsimile books or $1 books first appearances as well? No one considers those first apps. The $1 copy of I have of FF 49 isn’t a first appearance. It’s a reprint and not even worth the $1 I paid for it.

They are reproductions of the first appearance.

Ice Cream Man issue 20 3rd print. I think this the better one

How come no one is talking about this issue?

Issue #2 seems to be selling for $20 too. These are still on shelves at some places I’ve visited.

I don’t know which way to display the 2nd print…I dislike sideways covers…therefore on eBay it goes…

Because that’s off of busted Black Winter spec as Donny Cates stated Black Winter doesn’t appear in the book.

They still list it as 1st Black winter cameo even though it’s been debunked by the writer himself for over a month. Like anyone still cares about black Winter I can’t give away these Thor #4 2nd prints #5 3rd prints.

Yes, people paying that much for SSB4 are morons… yes, if you bought that book at the inflated premium price thinking it’s Black Winters first appearance, you are a MORON!

If you are giving them away Alana, I guess I can give them a new home?
