2nd 3rd and 4th printings!

He is featured on both regular covers of X-Force #13 ( Cover A is the nicer cover). A little gamesmanship with the “first cover” on their part. However, it is waaayyyy nicer than the regular covers for X-Force #13. Additionally, Wolverine #6 and X-Force #13 release the same say but X-Force #13 is after Wolverine #6 in X of Swords story arc. IF he is just a cameo in Wolverine, X-Force #13 would be the bigger spec book. This only matters IF the character isnt dead a few issues later. :joy::rofl:

I remember not long ago when store variants were $10 and $15 per trade dress and then $20 or $25 per virgin cover… now it seems all too many start at $25 and up… while I’m sure the initial costs are still the same. I know most shops can make money selling their exclusives for $10 each… cause we all know it’s probably around the $4-$6 cost per issue… maybe even less. IDK but I do know JesseJames comics seems to start their exclusives super low most of the time, probably just a few bucks over their overall cost per issue. So yeah, the latest trend of store exclusives starting prices at $25 and $30 or higher is just raping people’s wallets…

At least they are starting these books “lower”. $10 for the trade and $25 for the virgin cover. Also, they offer a 2 for 1 on their exclusives.

Oh, are they? Well, that’s not terrible. I can’t keep up with all store exclusives.

Hey buddy, those wallets were asking for it. All those credit cards bursting out. Don’t know how they get them in there. Lol. But seriously they can charge whatever they want. If people don’t buy them the price would likely go down. I personally don’t care for them. Only because it doesn’t have the title or issue number on the cover which makes organizing a bit more difficult.

Those wallets be like… [queue the music] "I’m sexy and I know it… " :stuck_out_tongue:

The virgins are 3 copies for $40 from unknown $13 each it’s triple cover price it’s not like they are banking off of them individually but as a whole probably.

Exactly, I dont see the appeal of the virgin covers other than they are more limited. Ok, ok, I know it is about the art, but the trade dress has the pertinent information on the cover.

I am pretty certain they get to purchase them at the same discounted price as regularly priced books. So, 50% off cover price. They just have to meet the minimum requirements of each publisher. So, 3000 copies ordered for Marvel. They are making bank on these books.

I was thinking Rod Stewart’s Da Ya Think I’m Sexy. If you want to laugh hard watch the music video for it. Skin tight leather pants and prancing around shaking his ass. They ever make a movie about Rod, Owen Wilson is my pick.

Most 2nd print virgins are 1000 print runs some 1500 print runs they don’t have any 3k minimum per book they have to purchase rights to multiple covers later printings 2 or 3 different books at a time to meet the 3k or 4500 limits. That’s why they are cheaper than regular store variants with the 3000 trade and 1000 virgin print runs.

Before 6 months ago being able to sell a 1000 copies of a later printing was unheard of that’s why they have different rules for the Virgin later print covers.

Yes, so they have to purchase or guarantee to buy in blocks of 3000+ copies for later printings or a combination of subsequent later printings to get them. I believe Unknown was a small brick and mortar just a few years ago and they no longer have a operating storefront. They are essentially a distributor for books and supplies. However their main source of income/profits is from the plethora of store exclusives they offer.

When it comes down to it if a book that’s a later printing pops like Thanos #15 4th print the Virgin goes for the same no more no less around the same as the regular trade dressed 4th print copy. So if you would of bought 5 trade dressed copies instead of the Virgin you would be richer but regardless Thanos #15 4th print teaches us the virgins can be worth their counterpart trade dress copies when and if the book pops.

If you want to laugh even harder, look up Tiny Tim performing it on Johnny Carson…

They do, but, it’s expensive to have 3000 copies of one book shipped to your shop, and there are other expenses involved such as paying an artists fee for the artwork for the cover. But those costs spread out over that volume may only work out to about $2 per issue (artists fee is approx $5000, I think).

Yes, the new, original art covers cost them more. Certainly cheaper to piggyback off of covers already being published. If I were a LCS I would absolutely want in on the money grab. I would have no problems begging or borrowing money to pay for that first store exclusive. Seems like only a handful of stores are getting them on a regular basis.

Yep, passing on them.

Grabbed one each on the Thors as I’ve been putting the run together, but don’t expect much out of them.

I remember when trade dress was $10, black and white was $20. You could buy the set plus the virgin variant for $60.

Print runs were advertised as 3000/1500/500
