There’s a shop in my area that I know for a fact that they keep all hot books behind the counter and don’t put them out for sale. Whenever someone calls in and asks for the current hot book of the week (ie. What if Planet Hulk), he would tell them he doesn’t have it and then pull them off the back bins and keep it behind the counter. He actually does much worse things. Sometimes when someone pre-orders for their pulls, and a book becomes hot (ie Daredevil 25), he tells the customer they got “shorted”.
I know this because I talk to the employee there. Don’t want to call out the store because it would out the employee whom I consider a friend.

So, I don’t short people…if I get the book, I send it, no questions asked how much its worth. I will, however, list 70% of my stock of all my books, just in case a few get hot and people can’t come in and buy my entire inventory out in one fail swoop. Then I’ll slowly restock as the day goes on to draw in the crowd and give everyone a shot. I learned this the hard way in the beginning, and I’m sure a lot of shops will do something similar. I don’t ever do the one per person deal…if someone gets lucky and finds the book that I just restocked, get it! I just love shipping people comics!
I ordered a lot of the We Live 1 and 5 later prints because I had a bunch of 2 3 and 4 first prints. I wanted to give people a shot to collect the whole series in one purchase and not have to pay some of the prices on ebay. I think I’m at $5 a book, before shipping, for that package.
Anyways…the #5 3rd print was ok looking, the number 1 4th print is the real winner in my book. That one and the first print are my favorites.

I think this is the way to go. Wish all my shops in my area were run this way.
Regarding the one copy of book on release day. A lot of my shops have this rule, that you can only buy 1 copy/cover of a book on the Wednesday. After that it’s fine. If they didn’t have that rule all the hot books of the week would be gone at store open. Lots of speculators in my area, and they would grab all copies.

Excuse my ignorance, but if we EVER saw Dylan on screen as Venom with chains, or any Venom with chains, wouldn’t this be a decent size book? I say pick one up if everyone is LOLing the spec on these like the homie here, might be a low print run.
