I’d probably buy, “Ultimate Fallout,” 4. It is bound to shoot back up.
If I told you what books I’d buy, you’d probably grab them.
But honestly I’ve never bought an expensive book on MCS because they either don’t have what I’m looking for, or what people ask for is higher than what I’d pay on eBay.
So what I would likely do is buy a CBCS slab that would sell for 20% more in the same grade in cgc…then have it cracked, pressed and cgc graded banking on that I’ll make money because likely it would grade higher. Then I’d buy a better book for the PC on ebay with the profits.
I’m on the Batman 227 train. I keep looking them over at shows and when shops have them but haven’t been able to pull the trigger.
Some decent prices raw and slabbed even on eBay for Batman #227
It’s definitely one of those books you can easily nab for under $500 and still be in really great shape. I’d probably go with a decent RAW one to shave off a hundred or two and hope it’s in the mid level grade of 4.0 - 5.0 which seem to go for around $500 on average.
I have $1100 in my cart there right now. I think my budget is probably going to be closer to $700 at this point.
Here is what I am eyeing right now:
None are really “keys” which I don’t always care about
Black Cat Mysteries #47 cgc 6.0
Black Cat Mysteries #49 cgc 3.0
Frankenstein #2 (Dell) I love the Dell Horror Superheroes
Fright #3 CGC 8.5 first Freddy Krueger comic
Has anyone looked at MCS to see if their suggestions are even available?
Batman 227 is not an option…this is what I typically see on MCS…overpriced books relative to eBay.
6.5 might be an interesting auction though. Last eBay sale 6.0 was $700…
Their own books can be really competitive. But the ones in yellow are ones people consign and they set their own prices. I don’t mess with the yellow ones.
Looks like in the end I may be closer to $800 being put towards a big purchase.
These all come from a percentage of sales.
So does that change what you would go after?
Nope.
They have a 1.8 GSX for $900… Tempting. May be my only chance for a while at least.
Seems kind of high for a 1.8, but low grade GSX always moves fast. You could always trade up for a better copy over time.
There is a .5 on ebay for $500. Coverless.
There’s a 2.5 on eBay for $999.
Presents very well.
So I ended up with close to $1000 to spend. Got a lot in.
