Austin Books and Comics (biggest comic book store in Austin) magically won't have Batman #89 on the shelf

I could blow my entire weeks allowance ($3) in five minutes on those games!

For me it was always a struggle. There was a hobby/comic shop, an arcade, and a record store all in the same plaza my mom would go grocery shopping. It was a fight for my money.

I was going to mention them. They moved didn’t they? I thought they closed down cause the old building appeared to be all closed up and such. Thanks for adding them.

Mycomicshop. Cover price.

Swarm swarm swarm!!!’

Aaaaand sold out.

Haha…

Surprised they offered them at cover. After the whole Captain marvel 8 fiasco…maybe they took heat from that…

Funny thing is that initially in the first few minutes they listed only “very fine” copies…but they were quickly gone and replaced with Near Mint.,

Not sure if that was a glitch or they got rid of damaged copies first…

Mine is the same…cant put 1 aside for me as they only have 2 left after all the regulars are satisfied…yeah right.

Not sure how it happened, but I accidentally listed the sister store as being from Fort Worth. They are actually located in Waco, TX. I tried editing the post but couldn’t figure it out.

Anyway, yes, there are other shops in Austin that have already said they will have any left overs of this issue on the shelf. Even small shops with 10 subscribers ordered extra for the shelf.

Yes, Brad Bankston is the owner and also has a shop in the Waco area. I believe he also lives in the Waco area as well.

Is the main CHU website having issues…Punchline spoilers causing a drain in the servers?

Should be back up. Yes, I spun up extra nodes…

Ya’ll people making me earn my $0 paycheck from @Anthony tonight…

Keep up the good work. I think Anthony should give you a 5% raise.

One shop I frequent that is part of a large-ish chain was upfront that corporate said unless Batman #89 is on a customer’s pull-list they were going to be charging $24.99. Sucks, but at least they are being honest, and people who pre-ordered are guaranteed cover price.

Which does suck cause you can likely find it cheaper than that on eBay now… prices are dropping, undercutters coming in wanting to offload the copies they obtained for the quick sales.

This is nothing more than the ridiculousness of the current Comic Climate … :poop:

More undercutters will show next week when online orders arrive. I f anyone didn’t get a copy they should just wait for the second wave of udercutters to list at the very least.

Agree.

BTW, Hell Arisen sold out within seconds at Midtown today. I jumped on it the instant it went live (+10 seconds) and still was denied when I got to checking out 20 seconds later.

From the start, I’ve felt like Hell Arisen would be the book to get. I had to gamble and preorder both of them and I’m thankful I did. Hoping the varied sources I used all come through.
IMO, Batman is a book that people tend to order anyway. It is rare that a shop isn’t going to have shelf copies for it. While I get that people are “hiding” copies…it isn’t that they didn’t have them. Certainly may be less than what is needed to meet demand…but they have them or certainly received a fair share.

Hell Arisen was a more expensive book for shops to order to begin with. Not all that much talk/concern with the book to begin with, and even after some initial news broke, there just didn’t seem to be much urgency around it. Guess we will see next week.
