I don’t understand Skybound around this idea. They could have got the masses foaming at the mouth for the blind bags for 6 months if they had done it right. They want to steal the idea from trading cards of gambling for consumers but then don’t learn any lessons at all from the trading card world. You need a chase that drives interest and FOMO for months/years down the road. They went for quick and easy by not putting enough chase into the blind bags. Then they seem to realize their mistake, do some trading packs of only 1000 with the stuff they should have had in the blind bags (1/1 sketches, etc).
Now there is nothing rare in the blind bags (not with a 400,000 print run) and they only make the real money on 1000 packs, and most of that made by the resellers?
Once the normies realize the blind bags are not worth it, they won’t get the same reaction the next time they try it, because we know they will. If they had put the rare and 1 of 1 stuff in the blind bags they would have people chasing for months until the next time they release a set of blind bags.
To me, it is almost a Marvel level of mismanagement.
I originally planned to go big on these blind bags (2,000) then I listened in on the retailers call and dropped to 100. I was disappointed as well in what they were including in the blind bags.
Are the marvel Team Ups in the regular or the eBay version?
