Here’s what I would do. I think I would open no more than 25 whether I was satisfied or not. You’re $2.30 cents into each copy. You can easily get six bucks per unopened copy. 75 x $6 = 450. You’re making money, had some fun opening up blind bags, and have additional duplicate copies to sell off. Then, if there’s a variant you didn’t get that you really wanted, use the profits to buy it one off.
Sell them in 5 pack lots. Going rate is $25-$30 per five pack.
Open some.
I have been selling the blanks pretty well. People have been telling me they are getting them for a con where Stegman is going to be.
It depends on what your plans are for them and how long you want to wait until you get your money back.
-
Open them all and have fun seeing what you get. However, you may sit on these (not literally) for quite awhile before the market flood slows down (which could be a couple of years). The hope is to hit the better ratio variants.
-
Open a few or even 50% of them and see if you like the returns (variants/foils/ratios). If not, sell the rest bagged
-
Sell them bagged in lots but you’ll never know what’s in them
What was your initial want to do when you bought them? Open them or leave them sealed? Profits or comics? I do not mean that in any negative way, but that’s kind of what it boils down to.
I opened my other bag a different store had for me. Got the A cover.
I’ve done two bags now with the results being B and A. I’m done.
Weigh them before opening. I think you can quickly tell which ones are the “money” books by weight. Lighter/thinner books are what you want.
Then sell all the garbage…I mean…remainders in 5 pack lots.
Wish @anthony would have weighed his bags before opening like I did. We would have all sorts of good data.
The weighing thing really works. I was able to ballpark it while at my shop and got 2 Invincibles. Went back for a third, thicker one to get an actual copy of the book.
There is approximately 30 grams difference between the two. As said, the lighter ones are the foils, the heavier the ratios and regular covers.
Shop here has them on the counter for $20? The Exquisite Corpses bagged for $15 next to it.
Wish I had the copies I’m waiting on… I’d take them to a local con this weekend. Easy trade bait right now.
Good luck on your pulls!
Umm, I told ya all the lighter packs had the reprints / #2 and the heavier packs were the #1 issues… at this point open the heavy packs to get a shot at the high ratios. The light packs with the reprints are plentiful.
Ironically. I have been selling the books I pulled out of the Blind Bags so easily on Mercari than on eBay. Even regular covers are selling.
thanks for all the advice. what the hell i am going to the open all of them this weekend.
If you get one of the more rare ratio’s, that could pay for everything right there! Good luck!
If you want A or B cover signed by Ryan Ottley:
$30, lol. And it’s “marked down” from $40.
Midtown would offer them at cover price.
