Black Friday finds

Issue 7 was never sold in stores. They just made it into Walmart packs I guess. They were supposed to be destroyed, but a bunch snuck out. It looks like the entire series sells reasonably well. I was surprised 7 was still that pricey years later.

Didn’t do as much shopping as typical but still did quite well.
First picture were all $2 a book. I was pleased to find those Star Trek books. The Absolute Batmans were all first prints. Man, I need my darn reading glasses for these books and those UPC codes.

Transformers and Harley books were all 10% off cover.

Paid $125 for everything in the third picture. I was pleased to find that alternate cover for Deadworld #10 (very early Crow teaser). I have the other cover but this one has been hard to find for me.
Killer grab of the weekend was that Resident Evil book. Hard to find, pricey and the coupon was even with it. It was priced at $5 bucks.

Didn’t think I’d have time to hit any black Friday sales and honestly, based on the advertised local sales I was seeing, didn’t seem worth going.

Then I remembered Midtown’s outlet MUST be doing something. Turns out it was 50% off everything in the store so I gave myself 2 hours to get in and out. It was crowded and smelly (like seriously, with all due respect to our community… I moved on from some boxes near certain individuals because it was intolerable :nauseated_face::nauseated_face:)

That said, here’s what I found:

Tim Drake Special. Have never found these before in the wild and I think prices have come down but I hope to get around $20 each and maybe $30-$35 for a set. At around $3 each it seemed worth the effort.

Some Mora covers with potential. Btw he did all those WWE covers but this one had beefcake vibes and not too many on eBay. They aren’t hot or anything but I’m willing to try and push it for the CHU community :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

These go for cover I think so just something to hold onto for now. I mostly missed out on the Geigerverse stuff except two 80 page giants I found and sold so I figured I’d pick these up and maybe someone on CHU can tell me how much potential they have. I missed out on grabbing a stack of Redcoat #1s by mere seconds :frowning:

Midtown graded these good but I opened them and they’re NM+ and VF/NM. I dunno if I ever told the story here about buying a Hulk 180 at the Midtown outlet that they graded as FN but was just dirty. Came back from GGC as a 9.4. I love that they undergrade everything.

Keep an eye out for these Philip Tan variants, especially 45.

Another Putri with potential, another beefcake and then there’s this 1:25 from the cancelled Red Hood series. Not sure how it made it into an outlet box and I checked it out and it’s NM, not VG as graded. Prices have come down on this one but I think it has a strong long term outlook. Might just hold onto it.

So overall I think it OK. Not a crazy haul of Nightwing 106s but with 50% off sticker prices, I’m happy with what I got.

I have sold multiple copies of the Ghost Machine 1 Rook cover for $35

I have the gore cover. Not the one with the Dead King on the cover. I loved the series when it came out but only picked up the gore covers.

Mine has been sitting for several months at $30.

You must be taking Canadian dollars…

I’m not in any hurry to move this book, btw. But not a matter of time for all these ghost machine characters…

Which location did you go to, or do you frequent?

I tend to hit the one at Times Square…mostly because of the (formerly known as) 99 cent pizza right below on the corner.

Awesome pickups. I found that Resident Evil 1 was in a stack of dollar books once with the coupon inside. I picked it up because I liked the games and only later found out how wise I was to get it!

I love that place Poyo and I have hit it many times at NYCC.

It’s their outlet in Astoria (Queens). Only open on weekends. I know the pizza spot under Midtown though. Back in my clubbing days we had designated pizza spots depending on where in the city we were. The best pizza you’ll ever have will always be at 3 am after the clubs.

If it’s dark out, it’s the forbidden zone for me.

One of my shops had a fantastic sale on trades and hardcovers this weekend. Nothing that I necessarily want to sell, but more to keep.

I bought 3 copies of this for $15 each. One for me, two for buddies.

Also got a bunch of new trades for $3, like We Live, Once & Future, Gideon Falls. Nocterra vol1 signed by the creators for $5.
