CGC Grading Bootlegs?

Amen to this!

Maybe I should be less lazy and learn how CBCS works for submitting.

It’s mainly on the collectors. Even in this topic there are several people who basically say they don’t like what CGC is doing, they like CBCS more now, but people will pay more for CGC so until OTHER people change their allegiance they won’t.

But some people have to be the ones to speak with their comics/wallet.

I just took a look at the Bad Idea Crass promo book. It’s only 10 pages or so. I admit that these stories look more interesting than I expected. Tankers look cool. The Lot looks cool. The Santa one looks funny. Although all of these are either one shots or limited to 4 issues. Must be to generate a nice stock of intellectual property. I think the whale story sounds appealing as a kid movie.

It’s funny how many of these bootlegs are selling like crazy on Ebay. LOL

They have said that’s an all-ages comic, so that might be what they’re thinking!

If you’ve never read in the Heart of the Sea, I’d recommend it. That’s my favorite whale story ever.

Thanks. Will read it. I read Mayflower by the same author and it was very good (granted, I enjoy New England history)

What doesn’t make sense is it sort of goes against their rules in a way. I mean a comic shop can’t sell the books for more than cover price for 30 days but it’s okay to makeup bootlegs of promotional materials and sell them for crazy prices?! It’s all creating a buzz, establishing ip and branching out into movies and merchandise.

These days, any news is good news.
No news, is a death warrant.
Bootleg Ashcans, Not First Prints, 1 per customer, only stores can sell. 50% shortages.
They know what they’re doing. They know exactly what they’re doing and doing it extremely well.

No matter how silly, dopey, wrong, litigious, outrageous, something is … it’s still news. And news is exposure. I think bad idea understands that better than anyone.

It’s allegedly the story Moby Dick was based on. Although, I much prefer reading about the Whaleship Essex in In the Heart of the Sea. The stuff with the sea turtles and the fires is pretty shocking.

You’re printing 500 copies and then destroying all but 50 of them first, right?

I’m going to burn the insides of the book and send the covers to a ymca so they can use them on their coverless high republics.
