They’re petty and trying to get back at CBCS when they were making fun of them for their banana bends on social media. They also obviously despise PSA who’s parent company now owns CBCS.

Instead of fixing their banana bends and make right with the community they banned longtime users on their forums talking about the issue. They’ve acted like nothing has happened.

They’re a despicable company and certainly tone deaf.

I hear this a lot in this forum but the truth is the vast majority of collectors are still buying it just for the label.

I was watching the latest Bronzeville 9.8 prescreen video and he was absolutely giddy that he got some UXM books back in a 9.8 for his PC. These books had an FMV of $90 in a 9.8 and he sent it multiple times for re-grading hoping to get that 9.8 label because there were some ticks on the spine.

Now I ask, if it’s for your PC it’s still the same book no matter how many times you send the book back for re-grade. The ticks are still there. You’re paying money back and forth for grading fees and shipping cost just so some minimum wage novice grader is eyeing your book for 30 seconds (at the most) and assigning you a grade. The grader may or may not be into comics unlike you who’s been into comics your entire life.

Bronzeville are the people we are selling our graded books to. It’s always about the label. It’s never about the book.

sounds like a big ol’ waste of money.

Let’s change that then… I’ve been preaching since I found CHU to buy the book, not the slab… if more keep reiterating this point, we might… just might get people to realize it’s about the effing book and not the overpaid opinion with overpriced label and sub par casing they slap these books into.

I agree.
Jim (Bronzeville) seems like a bright guy (former Math teacher), but sometimes he does things that make me scratch my head.

However, I’ve always attributed my head scratching to the fact he has over 7000 followers; many of which will buy anything he puts out there, VS… me who has like 1 follower - some deceased guy in Timbuktu

I watch Bronzebille because I enjoy his encyclopedic knowledge of Silver and Bronze age comics that I’m unfamiliar with. I like his stories, his love for the hobby and his cadence the way he speaks, makes for an enjoyable watch in the background while I learn a thing or 2 about comics. I’ve picked up some books that had Todd McFarlane’s letter as a child in the letters column that I was unaware of and other cool stuff like that, that I enjoy finding.

Grading, selling and speccing advice I do not listen to

Ditto 100%

CGC is a shit company, bottom line. The only reason they’re surviving is because too many dealers and collectors have too much already invested.

CBCS missed every opportunity to be #1.

He keeps wondering why his “clean” books come back raw, and books with clear ticks are 9.8s.

Either the graders aren’t paying close enough attention, or he’s not paying close enough attention. I think he knows it’s all a sham, but doesn’t care as long as he’s making obey. Like 99% of all CGC submitters.

But if he really cares to know, he’d take his “clean” books and have someone he trusts looks them over to see if they can tell him what he’s missing. Because if a book was truly “flawless” (I.e. “clean”) even the most lazy grader would give it a 9.8.

“Tood” hehe

Sending in about $4k worth of comics in to CBCS for reholders. These were older slabs which I’ve been meaning to upgrade. Last chance to do so.

Felt a little uneasy sending $4k through the mail…especially my Batmans which were double signed (personally witnessed) by Dennis O’Neil and Neal Adams. Those are not replaceable. :crossed_fingers:

All PC books. Reholder cost is $12. Shipping to/from and and insurance added $20 each more. But will look so much better in their new slabs….and easier to sell if need be.

I had three other books I wanted in new slabs but apparently CBCS lost some data when they moved to Texas and they don’t show up in their system anymore.

CBCS went out of business.

It doesnt matter what their slabs look like now…

It’s for his PC, let him have his fun. It brings him joy, even the 9.4 Restored Infinity Gauntlet 1.

The old slabs can be pried apart…they’re a bit flimsy/less secure. The new cases are solid and the label is closer to that of CGC. Regardless, they’re for the PC and for display…not to resell. I like the newer cases for that. It’s a personal preference to upgrade which I’ve been meaning to do since the new ones came out…it’s my last chance to do so.

Cheaper to reholder than to submit to CGC as well. And CGC won’t honor the witnessed signature. I’d have to pay more to get it verified…and that’s not the same.

Not sure what you’re referring to. It’s a verified signature by George Perez, in silver ink. The case was cracked…been meaning to send it back in for replacement. Yes, not worth a whole lot, but did not care for the red label with the cover art as it was. Yellow will be nice.
