CGC vs CBCS vs PGX vs PSA

Of course. Why wouldnt you praise your new boss…?

Money talks, bullshit walks. It would be career suicide otherwise.

It may be both. A civil case does not preclude a criminal case. I think cgc is trying to regain some credibility

Correction, bosses… Gotta kiss the arse of all those shareholders who don’t give two shits about anything CGC does as long as profits are high.

I’m not a legal expert but it could be due to at least a few reasons. Burden of proof is higher in criminal cases. Criminal cases have to brought by a gov’t agency (local/state/federal) after an investigation. CGC’s priority as a business is to recoup its losses.

Also consider this, do we really think jail time is gonna fix it? They’d probably get probation or something stupid and go right back to fraud again doing something else. Hit’em where it actually hurts, ruin them financially. Even if you don’t recoup your costs, by just making the defendents pay for all the legal costs it’s gonna require is doing to hurt a whole lot more.

So story is blowing up and lots of places are covering the lawsuit. Looks they are suing for 4 million and it involves over 2000 comics. WAY MORE than the 350 that cgc claimed (but we already knew that just from common sense)

Makes you wonder why Matt Nelson even do the interview in the first place when he was lying throughout the interview. Was he there just to announce the 9.9 prescreen to divert attention from the scandal?

2,000 comics eh? That is slightly more than 350 by a lot.

Lying is en vogue, for leadership roles in these fine 2000’s.

Matt Nelson is perfect in his position

From cgc board :joy:

I suppose one good thing that has come out of this is with all the hoopla for the last month and half, who in their right mind would enter (or remain) into CGC fraudulence in this current time?

Awareness, hyper-focus & Defcon 1 is at an all time high.
You’d have to absolutely nutzo to engage

Lol He created a shell LLC in order to not get in trouble. At that point it was too late.

Ding Ding Ding… CGC wants to sweep this under the rug as quickly as possible so we all forget and move along. Hey look everyone, new shiny object, pay attention to this instead…

… and let’s not forget the “free members can submit” and price changes. All diversionary.

I was thinking about this the other day. It’s now so transparent what they were doing. I mean, when was the last time that CGC willingly lowered their prices (bringing back the member and dealer discount) out of their own accord for no reason whatsoever. Ever since Blackstone acquired them it seem like they were jacking up their fees every few months.

You make it sound like that’s a bad thing?

Don’t we all do the same things in our own lives…to some extent it’s a natural behavior.

The important thing is what have they learned, and how has it changed them. That’s what we all want them to be transparent about. Then we can decide in confidence whether we support them or not and move on.

Blackstone is such a D-bag conglomo.

When & If they commit to changing some aspect of their case, then I’ll give them accolades for what they’ve been doing.

Otherwise… well… I need to be nice here for once.

The problem with CGC is they likely learned nothing. They just want everyone to forget and move on, leaving them with the least amount of costs to fix as possible so they can get back to wrongdoing customers day in and day out by running a piss poor company that’s all about profits, not the actual product.

Bronze and Modern Gods channel were at Cali Comic Con and did some interviews.

The 2 interviews that were interesting was from a dealer Blue Chip Comic who was talking up CBCS and had Batman 1 CBCS 4.5 in hand talking about he will be sending more books.

The next interview was with a CBCS grader [Vintage specialist] who gave some interesting info including how they also do some light cleaning of books before final grading. Never heard this before…anyone else? This is a nice touch treating customer books with some extra care vs a factory line of slab em and send em out.

21 min mark is where dealer interclview starts:

Nice interviewing job by the channel.

If dealers walls start featuring key books in CBCS cases will be interesting.

CBCS should do as much PR as they can with graders like this. All IMHO…
