I got the Wolverine and Batman pin they where giving away at SDCC. People where goong crazy for them cuz they where only giving out 1 of each or both depending on what you submitted.
Another marketing scheme to distract the market from all of their shenanigans since last December (compromise cases, internal theft and bend book via encapsulation). Coming up to a year with no clear and action in resolving any of the issue I mentioned. Simply embarrassing and unprofessional.
I believe they settled with the swap-gate person from NYC. Because it didnât go to trial, I donât think we get to know the details of how many books were impacted. I have to imagine that worked out in CGCâs favor as they were likely more motivated to put the issue behind them rather than air all the dirty laundry publicly.
I would fully expect CGC to close up shop again this week. Category 5 isnât anything to mess with.
Any of you guys have books there and are worried about it getting damaged (from hurricane)?
I think thereâs this false belief that cgc keeps your books stored and locked away in a climate controlled vault while being ready to be graded. Someone on the cgc board reposted a pic from the cgc office during the Todd Mcfarlane signing (posted by cgc because theyâre tone deaf) and the books were everywhere in the hallway in a pile of mess. People could walk back and forth where your books are. Imagine having your Golden age grails or Action comics 1 piled together with modern age books waiting to be graded.
I have a few subs there and two of them have been sitting there since end of August. They finally went to GEI 2 weeks ago and have been sitting there. I have a total of 6 subs there and I do worry with a Cat 5 taking out the whole building. Granted safety first as always, but I do not trust that they have this disaster proof building.
Just checked out what a cat 5 hurricane means and found out that Katrina was a cat 5 many years back. Yikes! Hope everyone is safe and have gotten out of there. Katrina was a total disaster and it took a very long time before everything was rebuilt.
the 2:00 report showed an increase in windspeed to 175mph. This could be really bad.
I read that with the current path of things, this could be the worst storm to hit Tampa in over 100 years. This could be BAD.
After not submitting anything to CGC in well over a year, I sent in one of my Ultimate Fallout 4s last week for the Sara Pichelli signing. Iâm concerned for friends in Florida but yeah, I admit to thinking about CGC this morning as the predictions get worse.
CGC had numerous big signings lined up for this month ahead of NYCC. For the creators they planned to host on home turf, who knows how that will play out.
I lost most of my original collection, house, and town to Katrina. Most people relocated and the population still hasnât rebounded. I didnât start collecting again until I moved to a desert, high up. Insurance only gave me around $1k for all of the contents I lost. It was brutal.
Sorry to hear that, truly.
Itâs not about the category so much as what side is the hurricane youâre on. Last checked because of the Jet Stream to the north it was expected to hit landfall as a Cat 3, but slow movement downâŠsuch that anyone along the coast East and southeast will likely see a surge not seen in over 100+ years. Basically the rotation of the storm pushes a wall of water onto land. While north will see the high winds blowing everything out to sea.
Obviously the more inland you are the betterâŠbut Florida isnât exactly known for its hillsâŠ
Worth watching where it tracks related to Tampa for sure. But I think itâll be inland enough to be ok.
I have two books there.
Both are from celebrity signings way way back (I donât submit to them anymore since bend gate).
One just changed to âshippingâ today, so I should be good there.
The other? - will likely be bent AND saturated.
As long as they offer a free shitty press after itâs destroyed, all should be fine.
For real. They will block you if you return books because the inner wells are too long for the cases?
Iâm not sure you can return a book without paying for itâŠunless you get the ok from them ahead of time.
Itâs been a while though.
Iâm still waiting CGC out. Itâs been about a year since I last submitted any books. I need to see if they eat some crow and fix the issues they created before I give them my money.
CGC: Thank you for your concern. These issue/defect are within tolerance. Donât missed the opportunity to sign up for SPECIAL CGC PIN and take advantage of âHURRICANEâ special.
There are no issue that needs to be address. These âdefectsâ are within tolerance. Best Regard, CGC Customer Service.
