I think you might be right about the ink. This is on the top of the back of the cover.
It seems like CGC doesn’t count it as a defect unless it’s really bad or causes another one. I didn’t know this; I think I’m moving on. Thanks yall

I ended up buying a CBCS 8.0 Conan #24 for $153 shipped. The CGC grades really didn’t make sense to me on many of the books. I’m happy to finally pay a reasonable price for this book after years of waiting. Now I’m looking for a Vampirella #1 (1969) 4.0-6.0.

You know, I’m watching videos of folks getting back the PSA books & I will say that “live” I actually like the look,label, shiny PSA label.
Clearly, I’m not paying for the case…but I do think it looks nice after seeing it more.

I like them too. I actually see now what many have said, and I think PSA has said themselves, that the label shouldn’t distract from the comic.
I’m looking forward to seeing sales comparison videos in the near future. I know those have to be coming…

A lot of 10s being handed out. If that’s the norm, going to kill the 9.8 PSA books…they’ll be like CGC 9.6s.
Case has newton rings…watch all the forever CGC’ers jump in that. At least rings don’t damage books.
Seems like they have not slimmed the case down from last year…when I held one I recall thinking it was about double a CGC weight.

9.8s being the quasi-perfect grade is a CGC/industry norm that should die. If its in perfect condition it should have been a 10, it was artificially kept at 9.8s for years. If PSA is giving out 10s for Mint comics, and it makes PSA 9.8s worth less than, my logic says, that is the way it should be. Killing 9.9s may be the best thing PSA ever did.

9.9 is a stupid grade. It’s not as annoying as 1.8. I just don’t get why CGC has a 1.8. Can you really split hairs that much on an old beat up comic? Seems like 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 have it covered. Why not make 3.8’s or 5.8’s? I just can’t believe any company’s grading anymore. Spine ticks on 9.8 ended it for me. I just am hoping that when I do buy an old comic that is graded, it truly has not been touched up. That is the only reason I buy blue label old comics. I’ve been burned on raws before and gotten the pink label of death. I want assurance nobody touched up the silver or golden age book.
