CGC vs CBCS vs PGX vs PSA

To avoid the destruction of my comics and/or sale of graded comics that I know CGC will destroy by bending them; I’ve begun sending in only mini-comics and thick magazines. I figure, they can’t bend them. Minis are too small; and thick magazines need the samsonite gorilla to bend them.

Buuuuuuut… take a look at my latest sub, and the cloud under the Sailor Moon on the cover.
It’s bigger than a damn storm cloud.
So they don’t bend them, but I get a giant Guh-Lact-Us Storm Cloud on my case.
Those incompetent m’fers in Sarasota can’t get anything right.
Nothing.
It’s like they’ve been put on the earth to just EFF everything up.
Every damn submission results in a mechanical error, bent books, both, or me just giving up and doing nothing when it’s effed up. I think it’s time to wash this sh*t stain from the face of my earth. I’ve had it up to my eyebrows with them.

Did you contact CGC? What did CGC say? Just curious.

Oh I will be. I haven’t received it yet.
I checked the scan on my account and saw it.
In the 1% chance their scan is poor or messed up, I’ll come on here and apologize
But I think I phone call will be in order when I receive

Is this your photo, or the scan CGC created?

I wonder if it’s a reflection of the camera. If you look at the back scan, outside the boarder of the comic I see similar ā€œcloudsā€ but it seems to be the backdrop.

Its the scan cgc created.
I hope it is their scan, and that i just have come to expect eff ups with them.
Ill report back here when i physically receive the book.
I want to be wrong

CGC’s latest thing, emphasis mine:

CGCĀ® is pleased to announce that the new Quick Submit feature is now live on the online submission form for comics, magazines, pulps and concert posters! Quick Submit lets collectors complete their submission forms faster by bypassing the collectibles description process — all submitters need to do is provide quantity and declared value.

Normally, CGC asks submitters to fill out the details of each collectible they plan to submit before declaring a value per item. With Quick Submit, collectors can bypass this process and save tons of time when filling out the online submission form whether at a show or mailing in.

NOTE: The Quick Submit option is only available for Modern & Vintage book tiers (up to $400 value per book), and the Economy poster tier ($400 value per poster). Quick Submit cannot be combined with any other services. This includes (but is not limited to) pressing, custom labels, restoration removal, CrossOver, JSA autograph authentication, CGC Signature Series or show on-site grading.

Okay, well… if you have a big stack and/or are a business, yes this would save time… but given CGC’s track record in recent years, are you SURE you don’t want an itemized list of what you submitted? :face_with_raised_eyebrow: Really, really sure?

It’s the same submission every time from every person. 4 options only:

  1. The Bends #8432 (increments every submission)
  2. The Banana #9754 (increments every submission)
  3. The Eff-Up #876 (can be combined with Item 1 or 2)
  4. The BS Shit Grade #8,984,034

I would really be entertained if PGX came out fighting trying to get a bigger piece of the market share. They were given non stop backlash in the early days with much of it admittedly deserving, but CGC has taken all the mess ups and scandals to to a new level and have gotten off very easy.

the9.9newsstand on IG recently posted about him buying two Malibu Sun 13’s graded by PGX without them realizing (or noting) that they were error editions. He bought them for $1,800, cracked them out and sent to CGC, who did note that they were error editions. He also got grade bumps and resold them for $23,000.

That’s just insane…

So if you are not entering the title of the book, how can you dispute if the book didn’t come back? Seems like if you want quicker grading you don’t just take off the item description you actually making the grading of the book faster. Seems stupid b

You’re not supposed to look at the grade before you open the box. Let the grades ā€œcookā€ a little longer…they usually come out higher.

I don’t care because I’ll never submit to them again…or if so do, it will be so far in the future they’ll have a new means of submittal…like AI will look at your book and fill the form out for you.

That technology is already here, CGC would just need to implement it. CLZ can scan by cover, I’m sure other apps can as well.

Honestly I wouldnt be surprised of CGC is using AI to scan the books already for this process.
PSA def has something like this in place for cards, as if you submit via Gamestop nothing is listed at all, just quantity.

That said I did a CGC card submission recently, and I clearly listed every card myself in the order
And in my submission status their research team changed 4 of the cards to ā€œjapanese languageā€ marker when they are clearly in English. So I dunno if I’d trust them w just a blind list of comics lol

I had to call them to make sure those labels didnt go through when they actually started slabbling

Thanks to @Gbess for this.

I can totally see a flurry of 10.0 PSA graded books pushing CGC release more 9.9s and 10.0s.

There are people who would look past their OCD obsessions with CGC labels if it means getting a PSA 10.0.

Meanwhile at CBCS…

Update on that Mixxzine 1-1 book.
I received it & yep, the scan is consistent with the giant cloud on the interior of the plastic.
Called cgc and yet another Mechanical Error for me to send back.

Mistakes are made by everyone, but Ill never how understand how consistently they make them. I have 2 mechanical errors for every 3 submissions on my dashboard. Incompetence.

(And i havent even mentioned the damages they are causing on nearly every comic in the last few yrs)
