I find it interesting that PSAâs grades were lowerâŠeven after a pressâŠbut maybe thatâs because CGC damages books when encapsulatingâŠ
Iâll probably pick a few books to slab for fun just to have a few at some point. Maybe Iâll hold off till NYCC to see if they have a promotion.
So this could be a real good thing. Multiple PSA books have sold for double what the CGC equivalent 9.8s have sold. It could be just that heâs first in the market and could be a novelty thing but interesting to note when CBCS, PGX first came out they did not come out with prices higher than CGC. Something to monitor in the coming months. CGC should be real scared, they really pissed away a big portion of their base by having all these scandals but worse of all the banana bends that have damaged customerâs books without taking responsibility.
For the record I do not want CGC to die even though I despise them. Having multiple competing companies in the market is a good thing for all of us.
Novelty is my theory.
First to market.
Letâs revisit in a couple monthsâŠwhen thereâs more supply/data.
No one should want CGC to die, the competition is needed, just need PSA to be better, drive CGC into 2nd place where they belong (or lower), force Blackstone to realize that their âtactical solutionâ doesnât work for something intangible like collectibles, then have CGC sold to a company that actually understands it client base. Seems simple.
9.8
oh thatâs generous alright. Sheesh.
Iâm not a professional, but I would love to hear why CGC thought this was 9.0.
Yikes! What is wrong with CGC?!? After a quick look I was thinking 7.5. The corners especially on the bottom are rounded, and a bunch of stress marks on the spine that break color. Oh, CGCâŠwhat a joke you have become. I havenât even seen the back. Sheesh!
I was thinking the same around 7.5âŠ
I have a 9.4 that looks much much worse.
I wouldnât say that. But PGX and CBCS have a certain âStigmaâ at this pointâŠno way that book sells for $1500 in a cbcs slab (even if it was graded 9.8). Which is sad. CGC would have just put a big crease in the spine.
so PSA is starting fresh. Itâs a bit of a first to market and novelty thing at the moment. CGC lifers are tough nuts to crack, thoughâŠweâll have to revisit this is 6 months.
I would like to know how easily the comics move in the case compared to other companies.
I also think itâs too early to tell if CGC should be scared. This is a perpetual blue chip book. Swagglehaus has 25,000 subscribers and advertised that he was going to sell it. Letâs see how the next 3-6 months pan out.
Someone did a video and they didnât move at all, I believe.
PSA may be charging slightly more, but I think the quality of case may be more than making up for it.
Donât buy into the UV crap though.
