It’s pretty crazy that CGC is so tone def that they would show these on their very first post in that thread and have the company line that newton rings are a normal occurrence:
Beauty is in the eye of the holder
How it passed the quality control is beyond me…that’s assuming that CGC actually has a QC department. Seems like mindless zombies working there. There’s no way that actually passed through a real living person’s hands and the person thought, “looks good to me, don’t think this will aggravate the customer enough that they will send it back”
They absolutely don’t, or at most maybe someone checking the super high end books and/or big baller accounts. There are way too many instances of easily caught problems that get sent out to the hoi polloi.
There’s a potential new CGC scandal brewing. Cliffs: it appears something has changed with CGC’s cases either they’re sealing it differently now and/or the plastics that they are using. Some people are now experiencing “slab bendgate” where the actual slab, not the comic is “bowing” as well as seeing some new damages.
Oh boy. More cgc-screwups.
Imagine hiring 1… just 1… packaging & plastics engineer full time. A man can dream
Of the cloud was on the interior plastic around the book, and not the case itself, they’ll crack it out and replace only the outer case.
After a few attempts in a similar situation I used a sharpie and wrote all over the outer case to change the inner case. They got it right after that.
Heat. With swap gate we’ve seen how the CGC cases become very pliable, practically putty, with just a little local heat from a heat gun. Now imagine prolonged heat.
Maybe the owner stored it near a heat source, or in their car. I don’t know, but with the heat this summer seems like the most probable cause.
and somehow, despite the now-years-long, never-ending deluge of snafus and scandal, a complete collapse in quality of product, and the abject failure by this company to do right by anyone for anything, people are still submitting to cgc and then complaining about the results.
…yes i know there’s $$ to be made but at this point, good lord. just stop submitting.
I used it once, if I recall. Was the space issue of the Grindhouse anthology comic. No complaints.
I’ve used it several times and it has been fine so far.
My CGC account was set to renew the 29th but I canceled the auto renew. There’s just too much drama with CGC right now and I’m really not slabbing much.
Why would anyone pay someone to damage books???
So if a book is signed, but not witnessed or verified…it’s a green label.
But if someone random writes their name on the cover, it a 9.6 blue label.
Sarasota is it’s own, truly real, BizarroWorld.
The grade was brought down from a 10 to a 9.6 because of the name on the cover. They accounted for it in the grade. Then they took the book and shoved it in an inner well that was too small for it bending it to the point it is no longer a comic and now is a boomerang.
man CGC is a horror show for books, i can’t bring myself to slab anything anymore.
