Looks like Lindsey Wagner has dropped also.
I’m done… over and out.
F!!
Ouch, I feel bad for any show that loses names that could draw a good crowd.
Yeah. Was at a warehouse this morning and the late drop outs are coming in fast and furious.
Went to a small local con this weekend. It wasn’t advertised (sufficiently) so the attendance was way down from the last show. I only found out about it because I was talking to a vendor at another show this month. No one even knew there was a show.
Not a single Mora to be found anywhere, no cheesecakes, no recent hot books nada. I picked up a few books that was about it. These were $3.
Found this also. Do you guys remember how hot this book was when it got optioned? I think it went up to $200 or something ridiculous like that. Has come down since then.
Ultimate Spider-Man prices for the A covers are pretty strong up to issue 8, plus a few others like 13.
I never read it past issue 1, so going to start flipping them now.
I sold my Proof set when it got optioned.
This is the first time I’ve actually seen it in the wild. When it got optioned I went looking for it and couldn’t find it. So ridiculously hard to find and prices kept going up.
Had an hour or so to dig through some boxes at a convention on the way home from another outing, didn’t have time to get through everything there but found a book I’ve been hunting for quite awhile.
I seem to be picking up late in the run newsstands all the time now, maybe I’m the only one looking for these things? But for $2 each…
I always pick up Micheal Turners for $1 or $2 if I don’t own them, found a few of these all from the same dealer
The book I’ve been hunting for awhile is this one:
but this the most pleasant surprise, Wolverine and Turner intersection, and signed? Yes, please!
It was a pretty solid convention, wish I had the time to really dig in but wasn’t in the cards.
I went down to Baltimore Comic Con on Friday and brought back two and a half short boxes of books.
There were a lot of books this year at the show. Dealers had a lot of $1 books, discounts on others, and the guy I bought the tpb’s from probably had a least 60 short boxes full. I wish I had more time to hunt because I probably could have picked up a lot more, but I had a three hour ride home (whats with the construction on the 95’s highway, it seems like they are never done) and probably only searched for three hours and the rest of the time I was waiting on the Adam Kuebert line.
We had Twin Cities Con here in Minneapolis this weekend. This is far more of a pop culture thing, but it’s pretty massive. Only maybe 5-6 comic vendors, and they were all local, so I barely spent any time digging.
The cast of the The Mummy was there, and my wife is a giant fan of that movie. So, we got pics with Brendan Fraser and the cast. Fun day.
I was more looking forward to meeting a few comic creators. Got to chat a bit with (and get books signed by) Ryan Stegman, Mark Brooks, Pat Gleason and Phil Hestor.
When I saw the weekend pass badge was Venom 7 art, I had to bring that book to get both the book and the badge signed by Stegman.

Overall, a really fun, very positive day. Every creator and actor we met was patient, engaged in conversation, asked us questions, etc. Nothing felt rushed. The MASSIVE crowd was friendly and kind, and it seemed like everyone was just there to have a good day. I would have loved to find a few books to buy, but I didn’t come home with a single new book. But, the signed ones for the PC are really cool.
Oh, and Hestor signed for free, and Gleason, Stegman, and Brooks signed for $10/book.
I had an interesting chat with Pat Gleason about that Spidey 55 cover. Marvel wanted him to do something for a bigger spidey issue. He showed them the ideas he had, including the idea for the web head spidey. Marvel passed. Spidey 50 came up, and Marvel asked to see what he had for that. They passed on the web head idea again, but said that they’d try to make it work for a random, less important issue. It finally happened with issue 55. Then completely blew up with multiple printings, and now other characters. He said more are on the way, too.
Like all the creators I chatted with, Pat was really fun to chat with.
they have that wolverine up for 25 at MCS
I was at a local show when I was getting ready to go but spotted a vendor I hadn’t chatted with yet. A guy with a chunk of video-games and figures had a shortbox of comics. He said I was welcome to dig in it, and he was happy to take 50 bucks for the box just to get it gone and have more table space to display the games and figures he had here at the show. I didn’t have much time left to dig, but figured 50 bucks for a shortbox couldn’t be too bad, so I gave him the money and took it home. Upon being able to look at it, there was really good stuff! The first six issues of the current run of Ultimate Spider-Man, a chunk of TMNT from the last long IDW run, the first appearance of Old Man Logan in Wolverine 66 are the highlights. Some other little things too, but for 50 bucks, I’m pleased with that alone.
I went to a small comic con last weekend and picked up a bunch of clean (run filler) Marvel comics for 50 cents each. Some of the books had these stamps on them, after googling it sounds like these were comp copies handed out to employees at Marvel. Thought it was cool since I’ve never come across these before.
