Comic Picks of the Week (ongoing)

There’s a segment of AB supercollectors who are realizing the sheer number of variants are unsustainable and are becoming choosier. Or say they are. Eventually, some retailers will lose a round of Musical Chairs on a exclusive.

The amount of FOMO out there is amazing fuel. There are some newbie (and lapsed) collectors who don’t understand 99% of these variants aren’t investments and are going to feel burnt at some point.

Is there any way to determine the print run for Absolute Batman 22 Quintana variant?

Agree on Witness Point, the concept screams TV show and with Fillion attached there’s hope. Dispatched and Iron Coffin both sound like B-Movie fun and I’m in for it haha

Not that I know of, but it would be interesting to see if it sells more copies than Cover A. It will be high print run and every time I think that the print run will be too high to really move over cover I remember that it is Absolute Batman and for whatever reason it doesn’t seem to matter.

I’m going to skip Wednesday warrioring this week. The last Absolute Batman Wednesday I went to at open, I kid you not there were at least 50 people in line. Normally for this store there’s usually the same 6 people in line every Wednesday at open.
This Wednesday with Dan Quitana Harley AB #22, it will be a bloodbath before the doors open. No thanks.

No. Simply put.

It will not be scarce. I can tell you that.

Sure, Some shops like mine are clueless and will not order any shelf copies…but the big online stores will have plenty for everyone to stockpile away for retirement.

But, that’s just the odd anomaly that is AbsBats. None of these A issues are scarce at all compared to other books. But, the prices just keep going up. $75 for issue 11a, which isn’t even a “first appearance” of the Absolute version of that character. So crazy.

Exactly it is bit of a head scratcher, that is why I still ordered 3 of the Quintana variant. I think its crazy ordering into a glut of supply but it doesn’t seem to matter for AbsBats.

At the point now for abs batman that I look at a shop’s back issue bins for what they once had greatly overpriced issues that have now skyrocket and they haven’t paid attention.

maybe keep a eye on Do a powerbomb E cover, (JB Roe) a few copies are listed at 28, not sure if there are any sales. No copies on MCS

For what it is worth, Lara Croft makes an appearance at the end of GI Joe #330.

Looks like its a tie in for this

Preorder for the toy from online toy stores is 7/23

leading into a 4-issue crossover series with Shipwreck and an artifact on Cobra Island

This hobby will always baffle me.
Very few of the Quintana Abs cover in my area.
I had mine preordered but definitely won’t be enough here to meet demands.

I can’t remember though, was the Quintana hype train fully rolling when this was on FOC??? Clearly places ordered plenty, I’m just in a smaller market.

I preordered. Just now got out to some MA area comic shops. Not sure

The hype was pre-FOC for this one. My shop had 3 left at noon today. No idea how many they ordered. I grabbed one.

Yes. It was running at least a few weeks before this book was even announced….and it was announced well over a month prior to FOC.

I don’t know when the cover was reveled…but it was pre-FOC.

Everyone had many many weeks of notice.

I think things started going nuts first week of April. I have sales of Detective 1006 and 1007 for big dollars on 4/11.

The whatnot debacle was on April 11th.

@Anthony posted this on 4/21.

Third eye still has copies at the link above. And save 15% by using code CHU2026

Anyone find this at their stores?

I hit 3 shops today. The only Quintana Abs Bats I found were the two I pre-requested. All the A covers I saw (at all 3 shops) had a white blemish/scratch just below the first staple. Anyone else notice that? I was on the fence about picking up a C (Bean) cover…but ultimately did not. I did grab the 1:25 for $11 (after discount).
