Kicking off 2026 Covention season.
Who’s going?!
My wife brought that one up to me, I was like nothing goes together like comic books and sea spray.
But look at all the women on this cruise….4 out of 5 in this ad alone!
And a shirtless guy in very short shorts. I am guessing this was not a comic con cruise it was taken on.
Quintuplets?
They do not look as happy as the Guy and 4 girls…
I enjoy cruises and I like comic books so in some other world where I don’t have responsibilities with these two kiddos and such I’d go. I’m good skipping, however.
Oddly enough I think chat GPT generated that image using photos of me and my younger brother.
I hope the two guys in front don’t move…otherwise this dude is going to lose his fancy drink…you think he’s a sour puss now…
They all got freakish pinkies too…
Any why did this guy not get a comic book?
Stupid AI…
I don’t do cruises… It’s like you’re stuck in a petri dish of others germs…
I did my first cruise to (actually from) Alaska this past summer. Mid-week my nose had become an open faucet and couldn’t taste much of anything, unless I was out in fresh air.
And I’m one who avoids people, won’t touch anything with my bare hands someone else could have and washes them regularly. I kept my distance from people as much as I reasonably could.
I will say by the time I left the boat, I was already on the road to recovery, but I would say a very large portion of the population was hacking and sneezing….it was just starting f for them. It was quite the change in overall health from day 1, by my observation.
Sounds bout right. I’ve always hear more stories about all the people getting sick rather than all the fun being had… so yeah, cruises are a no go for me. Like on Shark Tank, “For those reasons, I’m out!”
100% agree on all these points.
We also know the grumpy old men that typically set up at these conventions are set in their ways and not going. To change…need younger blood/fresh ideas breathing life into the hobby.
Maybe that’s why comics are really trending downward…because true die hard comic book lovers are going extinct by way of evolution….
He’s right and makes great points.
The general population enjoys a positive, friendly, neat, & kind interactive experience.
My problem (and perhaps a few others?) is I’m oblivious to the interaction and only care about what I’m getting and for how much. These grumpy old men that set up at conventions I could absolutely deal with if their asking prices were a lot less than what I’m seeing. Give me something to start with instead of at near what they believe FMV is. Dealing with anyone; even Mother Theresa, for 10% / 15% off (even more) is not what I’m looking for.
There is an original art dealer in the northeast (I won’t mention his name, but you all know him if you’re in the area) that is the saltiest, grumpiest, most miserable man I’ve probably ever encountered. But he offers incredible deals if you’re willing to get into the mud in working with him and play the game.
I’m actually perfectly fine with that, because in the end and for me only, it’s about the product I’m getting and for how much. But that’s just my personal feeling.
