Cyclops Question

Okay, I’ve got a question for all of you X-Perts out there: Why is his visor often depicted with smoke coming out/off of it after he shoots his beams. His optic blasts are a concussive force as opposed to a heat blast (like Superman’s heat vision). Don’t get me wrong, it is cool as hell in both comic art and action figure forms… but I have been confused by this.

I have learn to never questions the powers of a person in comic books. Just enjoy the coolnes of it…

Manga is even crazier… Their you will scartch your head  lol.

I don’t know if this is the reason, but at least it’s somewhat based on science.

Compressing the air makes the molecules move more rapidly, which increases the temperature . This phenomenon is called “heat of compression”.

Like when a person is scared or gets hit in the head and then a drop of booger liquid the size of Manhattan is hanging out of their nose?

I like this. Solid science. people don’t realize that our air is filled with molecules that when you push into them fast enough, it generates heat.
