DC Future State Spec

I liked the first issue of FS Gotham. I dig the Red Hood and Williamson’s writing.

I couldn’t get into Ridley’s Next Batman. I got all 4 issues and struggled to finish them. Hopefully Williamson can help me to like him more.

I thought it was odd that it was in black and white

I think the black and white is supposed to represent the choice Red Hood has to make, as he appears to be trying to live in a gray area between the Peacekeepers and Bat Family.

I also hope to see more of Superman: Worlds of War but perhaps that is going to take place in Action Comics rather than a separate Futute State title.

I started keeping a journal of everything I read because I would forget sometimes. Here’s what I have that I currently like:

DC:

Robin
Batman
Batman the Detective
Detective Comics
Justice League
Green Lantern
Crime Syndicate
Nightwing
Joker
EDIT: Teen Titans Academy

Marvel:

Thor
Aliens
Vader
War of the Bounty hunters
Wolverine
Beta Ray Bill
Black Knight
Eternals
EDIT: Strange Academy

I’m sure im forgetting a few but no way Marvel is that much better than DC in comics right now.

I’ve read the first two issues of Alien but I’m not sure of I’m going to stick with it… I probably will.

Beta Ray Bill I read, but my friend’s copies because I wasn’t sure if I’d like it. It is enjoyable but I don’t know of it constitutes getting all 5 issues just to figure out his new weapon? I may get the issues just to go with Thor.

I probably read 3 times as many Marvel books as DC.

Yeah, I’m like 10 Marvel to 4 DC in my regular pulls of the big two.

Ain’t no one perfect. Hahaha.

I’d read more Marvel if I could get in at the ground floor or some of the current runs like FF & Cap.

Well, you (at least I’m pretty sure it was you) got me into Batman and I’m loving it, so yeah. But I got in on the ground floor on Hickman’s X-Men, along with a few other series and I’m still enjoying them (I’ve got all of the Guardians for the last two seasons, Cates and Ewing, and so on).

Oh, and FWIW, there is a new villain debuting in issue 3 (maybe even issue 2) of Future State: Gotham called Warmonger. Perhaps it’s some kind of chimera with the head of Dick Cheney, the body of Hillary, and the mannerisms of W.

Edit: Just kidding, I bet it is this Game of Thrones looking dude that I totally forgot was in this issue.

Not sure how many of you have been keeping up Future State but I have been enjoying the Gotham title.

In the solicit for issue 12 it hints at Nightwing taking on a new identity or perhaps evolving somehow?

Are you enjoying the current Failsafe arc? This feels like it could be the next classic story similar to Hush.

My reading backlog is, um, very long at this point. Batman is on the pile, but thanks for the heads up! I will prioritize it.

Mine goes back a few years…I’m starting the think retirement might be when I get to some of them…and that’s at least 10 years out…

I need to get moving on this. At last to read. What do you think about long term spec for the character?

I think it will be defeated, but hard to say long term since the arc is still in progress. That said, the read is just so damned good!
