eBay Headaches

I’ve never searched Near Mint personally. I’m sure lots of people do though. Killing with kindness is always a good option. I have a hard time doing that if I’m in the right though.

All good advice.

I also do not search near mint or NM discretely because many do not want to give a grade as they know it’s subjective…even if the book is actually NM or better. You miss out on those diamonds in the rough if you search for “NM.” Some of my 9.8s I bought had no grade…or “high grade.” Just gotta look at the photos and if there’s doubt move on…or ask for more/better photos.

Did anyone else get the $5 coupon promo ($50 or more purchase) from eBay if you text BINGO to 70799? I’m leery of texting to strange numbers.

That and i’m also pissed I just bought something for $50 late last night…

and I sat there contemplating “if I wait a few more hours there might be an eBay bucks promo…but it might sell at this price like the last one did very quickly…and then I won’t see another at this price again!..”

Come on…sign up for more headaches! You know you want to!

I just tried and this is the message that I got.

eBay.: Reply with your zip code to agree to receive autodialer messages at this number. No purchase necessary. T&Cs and Privacy: http://vbs.cm/l8HVQF

Yeah…hard pass…

Yeah I didn’t reply ether. Not worth the $5 lol

Autodialer? Yeah, it’s gonna take a whole lot more money than $5 to get me to add my number to autodialer spam calls… We’re talking thousands of dollars need to be offered… like new BMW thousands…

So not a headache but it ticked me off. Found Spectre #54 for $5.45 shipped. That’s a steal. It’s easily a $20 book or more in the advertised condition which was VF+. It’s the first appearance of Mr Terrific and a sweet cover I’ll post it as well. Idk who Mr Terrific is but I really dug the cover. I immediately get a refund and it’s stated it’s unavailable or damaged. I called the seller out and he admitted it was sellers remorse and that I took advantage of him. Funny thing is when I received the refund I was actually writing them about combined shipping on about 20 or so other Spectre books they had. So not only does he lose my business there but any future business. If you see my new pickups you know I buy a lot of books strictly through eBay. That’s just the tip of the iceberg as some fall through the cracks. If it’s not already a topic here I don’t post them. I really should just start my own pickups thread but it’d be a lot of pictures. As well it earned them negative feedback. Oh I feel so much better after venting.

Did you reply with “you just lost another 20 books in sales.”? Let them remorse about that in these times.

“Took advantage of him…” Oh Please.

I got another book sandwiched in a small unpadded yellow envelope between two pieces of thin cardboard…miraculously made it across the country with what looks like no damage.

Will know more once it comes out of quarantine and I feel safe handling it.

Do you think ebay is doing really well To start 2020? They haven’t had a big promotion (like 10% or more eBay bucks) since December I believe,…there have been a few 5% ebay bucks promotions the past several weeks but that’s just chump change…

Usually they have one last push at the end of the 3 months for people to acquire more eBay bucks before having to cash them out (starting April 1st), but a few days ago it was 5% again.

If their sales were down I’d think they’d push a promotion out…stocks lost half their value during March too…

Looking back at my totals, I know I made them more money in Jan/Feb this year than in the 5 months prior to that.

I would absolutely let the seller know I was interested in many many more books, and that he gets to spend more money on in order to relist them every month that they don’t sell. I can’t think of one buyer who ‘takes advantage’ of a seller by simply buying his product. That is a statement made by a person who tries himself to take advantage of others, imo.

Sellers remorse? Perhaps sellers who have such symptoms should review the crap they have listed and yank them before they’re sold.

I know there’s buyers remorse but you could probably get eBay involved since he openly admitted he had sellers remorse and voided the contract on terms that are not covered.

Yes, I let him know that he not only missed out on me buying all his Spectre books, of which there were 20-30 just for the sweet covers. Also any future business, a negative feedback & I’m reporting him to eBay when I have a moment. He will be listing those books for months I hope. I was going to buy the other books not only because of the sweet covers but because I did feel like I owed him one for the bargain. Oh well what can you do?!

Never understood why people would allow their rep to be ruined or why they would anger a customer like that over tens of dollars… doesn’t seem worth it.

How is It possible for a buyer to buy an item BIN for asking price and then not pay? I understand how that’s possible for accepted best offers or auctions, but how is it possible on a straight up Buy It Now?

A few days ago, I got an email that a Venom statue I had up was sold for asking price but was still awaiting payment. So, for almost 3 days, the item has been invisible to other buyers because it’s stuck in “bought but not paid for” limbo. Why would eBay not just default to considering the item unsold until the buyer actually pays? Un-fing-believable!

You must check the box on the listing page that says ‘immediate payment required’ …

Why would that even be an option that isn’t a default?! What kind of lunatic would actually prefer that people have the ability to lock items down without having to pay for them?!

Btw, I’m raging out against eBay, not you Uncle Willie. I appreciate your reply.

Well, I think it has to do with buyers buying multiple items and then asking for a shipping cost consolidation prior to actually paying …

If I list anything, it’s always free shipping and immediate payment required … there can then be no ask for a shipping cost consolidation … because, it’s already free … (of course, it’s not free, I’m paying it) …

Hmmm. I guess that makes a little sense. In any case, the fact that buyers can do this without any repercussions, that I know of, is irritating.
Will eBay hold it against me if I cancel the order?

Just file a non-payment report against them … then block them as a buyer …

If they still don’t pay, follow up the non-payment report as eBay will still charge you the commission if they pay or not, unless you follow up …
