eBay Headaches

I would have just responded with something like… “Sorry, I’m just an old man selling things off on the side to make extra money for my failing health. I’m not gonna be as fast as Amazon but your comic will be packaged with care and arrive in the time specified in the listing details to accommodate eBay’s policies and rules. Thanks for the purchase.”

Also add that you have arthritis and a heart condition after suffering a stroke. Apologize for not shipping out the package in half hour but will do better next time.

I love it…

"My body doesn’t move so fast and my hands always hurt… "

Just start bombarding them with new messages, as if you’re old and lonely and need a friend to talk to…

I actually did that once with a buyer who was already asking about shipping less than 24 hrs after he paid, politely responded that altho I was not Amazon and just one guy working two jobs and selling comics on the side I can assure you it will shipped promptly and securely…now a repeat buyer lol

My biggest eBay headache lately is stuff shipping media mail when I opted for other shipping (ugh).

Are you getting charged for other options and not media mail? If so, I call those people out. If you pay for something other than media mail, they’re suppose to actually do it.

Had a painful experience with vgtmy_89 on eBay. They only have 28 feedbacks so they’re relatively new I suppose. I sold them an Absolute Batman ashcan I had acquired from a friend. I had already sold it to them pretty cheap but once it arrived they complained that it was damaged. I requested pictures and they sent two blurry pictures of the apparent creases that were upsetting them. Not rips or spine ticks but creases? I told them I was happy to have them send it back or give them a partial refund of $20 (just to end the headache). They said they would only accept a $25 partial refund so I did that and apologized that the comic was not to their liking, whilst greeting my teeth and remembering I need to be polite. Generally if there’s something you want to say that feels good online you probably shouldn’t say it because it’ll get you in trouble or get you bad feedback.

Thanks blocked

Yes, just this week alone, I had two eBay purchases ship as Media Mail when they were supposed to ship either Economy or Ground Advantage. The seller with the GA admitted his mistake and actually refunded me the full cost of the order (~$20). The Economy guy responded that Media Mail falls under Economy - which is true, but still not allowed since comics aren’t Media Mail.

I also had an issue this week buying directly from an artist’s website where I paid for GA, it shipped MM. When I contacted them, the fullfillment partner actually tried to gaslight me by saying I had selected MM. When I showed them my receipt, they said “typically there is no issue shipping any type of book via Media Mail, though unfortunately sometimes USPS doesn’t permit certain types of books for some reason (my emphasis). We have no control over whether a Media Mail shipment will incur additional postage due fees.”. I replied back, copying the artist’s non-store email, called out their BS, noted the same thing had also happened the last time I used their website, threatened to never buy from the artist again, and suddenly I was awarded a refund and got a sincere apology.

Care to share the artist? Cause I had an artist (well known) send via media mail when I actually paid for Priority once. I called them out and got a refund but I’d hate to see them trying to pull this tactic.

Damaged during shipment, or that you didn’t disclose the defects?

Big difference. One can be a USPS claim, the other is on you. I assume you package very well.

Yes. Please do. It’s best to be transparent because it’s very likely they’ll keep doing it. So everyone can be aware of they are thinking of buying from the same outfit.

I package quite well and considering how blurry their photos were of any supposed issues it gives the vibe of them scamming, hence my warning about them.

I’ve had several instances of paying for Priority Mail and items being shipped in slower and cheaper methods. If the seller won’t make it right don’t count on eBay to either.

I don’t blame him, mind you, I blame his fulfillment center but it was Terry Dodson’s webstore.

This is where you put in a dispute with your credit card company and usually you’ll win every time. I paid for this but got this… they tend to make it right every time.

Had a book on eBay for $75.
Sent an offer out to a few people for $70.
One guy counters at $55.
I’m eager to sell, so I counter at $60, which seems pretty fair.
He counters at $50, apparently, just to be an ass.

That’s when you counter 65 and message, “Two can play at this game!” or you just block as it will only get worse if you do sell to them.
