And whose to say the seller didn’t swap books either?
Not that I believe that happened…but it’s now he said she said arguments…seller loses every time.

Yeah I’ve already tried with eBay but they always side with the buyer unfortunately, I’m planning on leaving eBay soon I started removing old listings over the past couple of weeks I think I’ll just move across to a different platform soon
This should be covered under eBay seller protection. eBay siding with the buyer without you getting the item back to inspect first, they should eat the cost, not you.
No, the real problem was eBay refunded the buyer without photographic evidence. That just seems outright unjustified in my opinion. Have some standards, eBay. At least make the buyer post a fake photo of a damaged comic.
Im not sure what it’s like for people outside of the US but in the UK we have 7 days to resolve a return request then eBay takes over, I asked for photos but eventually the 7 days had passed and eBay refunded the buyer out of my available funds and now I’ve received whatever that book is and now with no substantial proof I can’t do much about it apart from go to a company called ‘action fraud’ but it’s not worth going to court over this so I guess it’s a you win some you lose some situation
No, post not a fake photo, post a photo of the actual comic described and damaged.
Sounds like you should move then… Britain sounds like a horrible place to live…
Anyone else up for moving to Texas we can all live in Poyos garden in tents and caravans like gypsies?
No, but since Covid hit, you can join the hundreds of other new people living under bridges along our highways in tents and such…
Unfortunately, the best that you can do is report this buyer to eBay as not having sent back the item that was sold to them so they have it on record. If the buyer is scamming sellers by doing this to others, their return/refund claims will eventually be denied. EBay will always give the buyer the benefit of the doubt the first few times they do a scam like this because it ultimately does come down to he said/she said unless the buyer has a record of doing it previously. If a seller has a long history of superior service, eBay may reimburse the seller out of courtesy.
You should also tell eBay that the buyer refused to send pictures of the damage. From previous personal experience, this is something that eBay used to require for cases where the buyer was claiming damage.
Ebays not going to know the difference between the comic delivered and a separate one (same issue or cover) that was damaged.
Someone could take a facsimile edition and try to pass it off and eBay likely wouldn’t know the difference either.
Does anyone have good directions on how to set up combined shipping on eBay correctly for a seller? It seems like every time I call eBay I get a different answer. If I could set a combined shipping rule that works I would sell more comics. I know this is a common problem.
I just tell people to request total (you have to turn off pay at checkout though on BIN) and if they don’t, I normally combine and refund them the difference and most are super excited not realizing they bought books from same seller… it’s like a automatic gonna get a positive from buyers when you just refund and they didn’t even ask.
I combine and refund the shipping every so often. I wish I could change the settings where it could combine shipping more automatically.

[/quote] What is BIN?
BIN = Buy It Now
And yes, I tried doing clever combined shipping all the time and it would never get it right for me. Too many scenarios and sometimes when I pack comics, I might add extra stuff if the package feels weak that might change the weight so yeah, I normally just do the painful task of refunding if their shipping total cost was way over the actual shipping cost.
You have to go to account setting and under selling there is a shipping preferences link then once you’re in there find the line that says “Allow combined payments and shipping”. then click on the edit link next to flat shipping rule and put whatever you want in there
File a police report for mail fraud and tell ebay. They will give you your money back. It happened to me.
Do you have to have flat rate shipping or calculated for this to work. I been told both by eBay when I have called. Right now I have calculated shipping. I could try changing it over. I been in the setting a number of times but it never seems to work. I will try that.
