Facebook Marketplace Nightmares

So we have an eBay section. Let’s put up bad eBay Marketplace deals.

I have had several.

$100 had 8 Simpsons #4 worth about $50 each.

Agreed to sell them with a pick up tomorrow.

Suddenly his “sister wants them for the kids”

Clearly his sister has at least 25 kids?

  • the seller knows what newsstands are
  • the seller knows what a Willie Dipken card is
  • seller knows what comic book protection is

Clearly… the seller looked up the comics on Ebay after posting and had a change of heart

How did the person even know about the Dipkin card, or know it was significant enough to note in the listing, w/o looking up on eBay to begin with?!

@Anthony offer him $300…see if the kids suddenly don’t need the comics anymore.

Or say you’ll take the duplicates for $100. Call their bluff. Kids don’t need multiples.

Why lie? Just say “I realized they’re worth more than I had originally thought and decided it was in my best interest to sell them individually.”

You can be upset, but at least you can understand where they’re coming from. And respect that angle.

Pathetic.

I’ve had a first for Facebook Marketplace, where the guy wanted me to pay for his time to mail the comic books that he had listed as shipping available. He had a couple of books listed for $10 for the pair, the postage would be around $5 (untracked lettermail) so I offered him $15. He returns with $30 shipped. $15 for the time it takes him to pack it up and take it to the post office…

I get it, small sale but still, why list it if your unwilling to ship it?

Screw that guy.

Bait and switch. He wants $25 for the books, not $10.

If this had happened to me, I’d send him this new offer in an FB message.
