Stopped at my primary LcS today to see if they had any copies…either they didn’t order any, or they were all grabbed yesterday. Had a ton of everything else.
They also still stamp the cover with their store info anyway, so would have not been flippable. One of the reasons I don’t go to their FCBD.
The other reasons is they only put out a few varieties of FCBD books out on the counter at a time, rotating them every few hours…and they wont dig into the boxes if you’re looking for one that’s not out. So it would have been a crap shoot yesterday if I did show up.
Basically they de-incentivize showing up for FCBD as much as one could short of not participating.
Everything goes out on Sunday.
Fortunately my back-up LCS came through for me and said he put a copy in my pull list. So I have the one waiting.
With all of the Carl craziness, here’s a kinda random cool thing. Last year he’d stop by this Washington university book store and sign copies of his book for free. I was able to grab a couple copies for myself and a few friends.
I noticed a post in our cities “Ask City” Facebook group (I imagine all towns and cities have them) by a female who was so upset she didn’t get a copy and she wasn’t aware of FCBD. The number of other (almost all female) who also responded discussing it, saying "WHAT? WHERE? I WANT ONE! was amazing. They all were going off on tangents about their DCC fan groups, reading groups etc
Damn, as always, thanks to you all. I didn’t know a darn thing about it. You all are the best!!! Now I need to find the books to read too!
I hit three stores this weekend for FCBD sales. I ended up with 106 books. Most were 50 cents per. Crazy to think that of those 106, only 4 were Marvel books. Lots of Conan (Titan), Geiger, Lost Fantasy, Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, SIKTC.
